I was thinking about favorite films, and the eras that they were made.... how different but probably still funny they'd have the potential to be..

I'll go first:

Ghostbusters, if it was made in 1974 (not 1984):

Dr. Peter Venkman: Gene Wilder
Dr. Raymond Stantz: Harvey Korman
Winston Zeddmore: Richard Pryor
Dr. Egon Spengler: Ron Carey
Dana Barrett: Terri Garr
Louis Tully: Marty Feldman
Janine Melnitz: Madeline Khan
Walter Peck: Mel Brooks
Mayor: David Huddleston
Male Student: Dom DeLuise
Female Student: Mary-Margaret Humes
Gozer: Cloris Leachman
Hotel Manager: Kenneth Mars
Librarian: Carol Arthur
Dean Yager: Dick Van Patten

I might switch Garr and Khan's roles... still mulling that over.

Oh my God! What an idea for a thread! :eek

Oakey-dokey here goes...

"The Terminator" (by coincidence also released originally in 1984):

The Terminator: Richard Kiel
Kyle Reese: Jan Michael Vincent
Sarah Connor: Sissy Spacek
Lt Traxler: Yaphet Kotto
Detective Vukovich: James Caan
Dr Peter Silberman: Donald Pleasence
Matt: Jeff Bridges
Ginger: Karen Black
Gun shop owner: Harry Dean Stanton (or Keenan Wynn)
Future Terminator: O.J. Simpson
The three punks: Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro and Jack Nicholson ;)

Nosferatu - 1912 instead of 1922

It would be 10 minutes long instead? Just using the 1910 Frankenstein as a guide.

All do respect to Connery, Heston should have played Indy's father.

A Few Good Men (1982)

Lt. Kaffee- Harrison Ford
Lt. Cdr. Galloway- Geena Davis
Lt. Weinberg- Mark Lin-Baker
Pfc. Downey- Sean Penn
Lance Cpl. Dawson- Forest Whitaker
Capt. Ross- Jack Nicholson
Col. Jessup-Robert Duvall
Lt. Col. Markinson- Gene Hackman
Lt. Kendrick- Tom Berenger
Judge Rudolph- Sidney Poitier

I always thought J.T. Walsh was fabulous as Markinson, but as I was coming up with who could've done this in 1982 I ran the car scene through my head in Gene Hackman's voice (I don't want a deal and I don't want immunity. I want you to know that I am proud neither of what I have done nor what I am doing) I could only think "awesome".

Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace (1999)

Anakin Skywalker: Nick Stahl in what would be his first film role.
Qui-Gon Jinn: Michael York
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Kenneth Branagh
Queen Amidala: Winona Ryder
Jar Jar Binks: Meshach Taylor
Chancellor Valorum: Patrick McGoohan
Darth Maul: Taimak
Yoda, Senator Palpatine/Darth Sidious, C-3PO, R2-D2: Frank Oz, Anthony Daniels, Ian McDiarmid, and Kenny Baker, respectively.

And no, it wouldn't have made it a better movie.

Captain Kirk - William Shatner
Spock - Leonard Nimoy
Bones - Deforrest Kelly
Uhura - Nichelle Nichols
Scotty - James Doohan
Sulu - George Takai

Donny - Dennis Hopper
The Stranger (Cowboy) - Clint Eastwood

Blade Runner (1972)

Deckard - Burt Reynolds (but Steve McQueen would have been incredible in this role)
Rachel - Victoria Principal, Julie Christie, Ali McGraw (only if Steve McQueen was playing Deckard)
Roy Batty - Klaus Kinski, Max Von Sydow ... or Bruce Lee (I can imagine Bruce doing an an awesome reading of Roy's death scene ... which would become legendary and prophetic after his death), Tim Curry (?)
Pris - Elke Sommer ... Twiggy? ... Tim Curry (he could do Pris or Roy)
Leon - George Kennedy
Zhora - Raquel Welch
Bryant - Warren Oates
Gaff - Freddie Prinze?
Tyrell - ???
J.F. Sebastian - Michael J. Pollard (no question here) ... maybe Bruce Dern but Ernest Borgnine would be an interesting interpretation, too
Hannibal Chu - Toshiro Mufune (I know he's Japanese but that's never stopped Hollywood casting)
Abdul Ben Hassan - Zero Mostel
