Baby Doll's Katana Carrier

Has anyone made a katana carrier as seen in the movie Sucker Punch? I have looked in the costuming threads & seen several versions of the under-arm holster for the pistol, but the katana carrier seems to be seperate.

Maybe I should clarify-

The Gentle Giant statue is pretty much all I can find showing a full on shot of the back of the character. It gives the impression that the katana is simply carried in the scabbard, with a cord tied around the body to the top & middle of the scabbard. I seem to remember thinking there was a more "tactical" way the scabbard was carried on her back when she was in battle. Some images I've seen of the back of the holster belt shows a round attachment to the middle of the belt that I assumed was part of the sword carrying rig.

If anyone knows that I'm definitely wrong, please let me know.

i think personally i bet she had 2, like a stunt one for all the battle scenes where it was more securely fastened to the back of the gun holster as well as having the cord round the front. And a second version just with the cord.
For my costume im just going to go with the Gentle Giant statue and carrying it around my body by the plated cord on the scabbard.
But i think either way would be fine :D xox

I think the holster and scabbard are separate, i'd make them separate. Here are some pictures:

Here is a picture of her during a fight, it seems the scabbard is still seperate:

Here is a picture from the artwork book of all the girls standing with their backs to the camera. The whole picture is split across two pages, but there is the page with Babydoll on, her scabbard is definitely seperate here:

And finally a photoshoot type picture, probably shot on set for the book:

Her skirt is a little high here, i'm definitely not complaining though ;)

it looks to me that she is wearing a modified leather shoulder holster, the has thicker straps for her shoulders, a leather waist belt with keepers and the cord for the saya (japanese katana sheath) is attached to the shoulder straps and has the braded cord that wraps around her chest... it seems to be all attached... the saya is attached with the knots but they inturn seem to be attached higher up on the shoulder under herflap of the shirt...
this would be a very simple rig to make...

that is just a basic katana saya, it was held to the system with the braided belt, very similiar to this...

thats easy peezy but they used a braded knot thingy..

Thanks for all the info guys/gals. I couldn't help but laugh at the fact this thread just laid there for a while & then AFTER I get the blu ray, I get all this help.(lol). Seriously though, I agree now that the scabbard was just held on by a thick braided rope. I even think on page 25 or 26 of the costume thread, there is a tutorial on how to braid the rope.

Just to clarify. I'm not building the costume for myself or anyone else. I'm just a Japanese steel fan. The carry she used would never be used in any traditional or functional type of situation. I was thinking that from a modern "tactical" application, a combined custom rig for these 2 weapons was intriguing.

Simple to make as in you'll commission one? Lawlz
