This is what I've been working on over the past few weeks. It's a nicce little kit but it definately suffers from some accuracy issues. Wings didn't line up, nose too short, Gun pod not accurately shaped, too tall when viewed from the side, and others. These are some in progress shots that show what I did to help accurise the kit.
These 2 pictures show the chingun mods. that I did, I haven't done anything to extend the nose yet.

Note how in the second image the back end of the chin pod no longer has a flat edge to it and instead blends into the fuselage.
These show how I moved the upper wing back and what I plan to do with the leading edge. http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q222/cd821/fix2.jpg

These last 2 show the new wing allignment and the general look of the back.

Next to do is the final modifications on the back and then I get to prime...
As for sanding down the bottom, what I did is raise everything up the distance of the main flat area up to the height of the raised plug area. I didn't, however sand the area where the chin pod attaches to, this way the chin pod will stay in the correct position. Then you'll just have to shave out alittle spot on the end cap so it can fit on the fuselage. Hope that wasn't too confusing. I'll see if I can figure out how to show this in a picture. It's not hard, I'm just not very good at describing things .
EDIT: Here is a quick picture I drew up to show what I was talking about. Hope it helps.

The black line is what the bottom of the unmodified fuselage bottom "generally" looks like, the Red is where I sanded mine down to.
OK, here are the modifications all primered up. I scribed most of the panel lines on to the changed areas, but there is still just a little more work to do to smooth things out, but I figured I'd show you all more or less what it looks like with the changes. Once I get started on the painting process I'll post more pictures with what I'm doing.
Notice how the fuselage area that is below the lower wings (the part that I'm holding), is now about level with the bottom of the chin gun pod, which is where it should be. Also, notice how the leading edge portion that I added to the top wings (the part that connects next to where the conopy will go) is even with where the lower "ramp/slope" also ends. Finally, the nose now has more of a downward slope, giving the "Bolt" the more aggressive look we all know and love

I need to add some panel lining to the lower rear surface that now slopes up to the end cap box. It's hard to tell but in the perspective views that I posted of the original filming CG model, it appears to do the same.

Here is a close-up of the slight mod. I made to the intake. Notice how the rear fairing is now cut down instead of being angeled like the front one. I did this because the Orthos seem to show this and it also gives more room for the intake to fit under the wing.

Here is a quick desktop paint test of the marking I plan to paint on the top of the fuselage. http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q222/cd821/Risingsun.jpg
It's more or less an Homeage to VF-111 a former F-14 Tomcat squadron that had a "similar" rising sun on the tail surfaces and they also had a shark-mouth on the nose. Plus I like how the "sun beams" turn into the striping on the wings.
This is where I am today, I have the "Rising Sun" painted on still some more touch-ups to do, plus It still needs to be weathered but that'll come after the engines and all are put on.

These few pictures show the cockpit, I added the instument panels. Very basic...not much can be seen once the canopy is on but it would've been too empty without.
