Guy, you're a master at this painting lark !!! Don't tell asda they have useful receipts though...the buggers will start to charge for them too...:lol

Phil

Cheers guy's, looking forward to getting it wrapped up pretty soon.

Phil, I'm swapping to Aldi masking templates anyway, much better quality and a lot cheaper, I'm up for painting commissions at the mo so if anyone wants out done give me a shout.

I think you need to look at your falcon mate this B-wing lark is a doddle compared to that work of art. you'll see it in July though which will be nice for me.

Thanks Niels, slowly getting there, at last I've got the cockpit attached so its full steam ahead on the painting, mostly just blast marks and main wing leading edge to do then its fit engines and wrap it up.

Still a WIP on CP painting

I have to say it was painful not putting the other Cockpit logo on this build, I nearly went the other way, It just isn't the same without the TJG on it :cry

Thats superb,Ive view your past work Guy and its awesome paint job as usual, seriously I love your paint job, sexy:love
Are you gonna finished this w the pilot on this beauty?

Thanks Talkierg, yep the pilot is sat in his new orange coat as we speak. The overall cockpit is less intense than the actual prop, I've left out the checkered stripes and numerous wheat bulbs, but it still has a good vintage feel in tone.

Cheers

A bit dodgy on the old straight lines but I just cant do this fine work without turning into a shaky mess

Looks ok though?

Burner surrounds always reminded me of a tyre, are they cast, individual pieces?
Are they a linked set of tracks? Its a mind bender, but i always came back to a tyre.

Yeh mate been looking at tyre's for a while, plenty seem close but are too small, possibly 1/25 scale. I know ILM where mad at times but I cant see them being that anal on this detail to cast each part, they seem pretty damn uniform on each engine so tyre is the way I reckon.

Ok, I've put my glasses on and your right they're dodgy as hell, I think they've cut up a tread and glued the parts around a dome then cast it, it seems that there is a common flaw identical to each engine and each tiny strip varies in detail from having a square shape in the middle to a small hole, I think I need to find a tread that makes the grade then hack it up into individual parts then cast it?

It felt hard to the touch (that's what she said), when I fondled, ERRRR, examined the one I took pics of... they were definitely cast/resin.

Also, fun fact - I FREAKED Dinah out when I was twisting the cockpit 360º taking pics... she had no idea it did that, lol. Couldn't tell if there was a motor/servo in there, but it was stiff when I twisted it (that is also what she said).

Cheers fellas, small but almost there update.

I screwed these up have have rescued them now, just waiting on a few parts to emulate the prop better

there's 5 layers of paint on these beauties, still a WIP and the light is just aesthetic and none functional
