Here is my Awesome Mix Vol. 1 tape:

The tape itself was purchased from another RPF member, It is the exact tape used in the movie and on the album art. If you can't find the TDK CDing 2 Tape there is a more common TDK D90 that looks almost exactly the same except its missing the black wheel clamps, the 4 silver dots in the middle, and the 2 gold rings from the logo seen under the word MIX on the CDing 2 tape. here's an example of a D90 with the label:

For the label I used the album art from the Guardians of The Galaxy Soundtrack and turned it into a vector image in Illustrator. I decided to print the words on the label instead of trying to copy it by hand, that way it would be almost 100% like the handwriting on the one in the movie. To give it a more pen look to it I made some parts of the letters darker where the pen might have paused letting more ink bleed onto the label as seen in this picture of my photoshop file of the label:

I then added a little yellowing around the edges of the label to give it an aged look and then printed the labels on crack and peel paper. I also added the scuff on the bottom left of the tape to match the one on the album art with scissors scrapping away some of the ink. I put together 3 tapes, one Cding 2 tape as my hero prop, and then 2 D90's for putting the music onto and keeping one and giving one to a friend:

So that's my process on how I made my own Awesome Mix Vol. 1, if you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try my best to respond. Thanks again!

Nice job adamsbio Inspired me to make my own. Just done a practice run and came out like this:

I copied your idea of using a screenshot for the writing and darkening spots to make it look more like it's hand written. I wouldn't have thought of that so, thanks!
I'll go back to the Photoshop file and yellow the edges a bit to age it and try it again for the final version.
