Awesome idea for WF 2008

I was chatting with a buddy today, and we hit on an awesome idea:

We all have amassed stacks of extra parts from vintage kits, as we build our Slave 1s, Escape Pods, Galacticas, etc....

So for those attending Wonderfest in 14 months, how about this:

Make a "studio scale Rag Tag Fleet" ship. Use those vintage parts, and give it a name, a la BSG.

The Lock Pickery ship

The Roadside Assistance ship

The Paper Mill ship

The AMBROSIA DISTILLERY/TANKER (you'd think this was a given, seeing how they never fracking ran out)

The Tobacco ship

The Hair Gel Refinery ship

Wouldn't it be cool to see all of these lined up at WF?

Great idea Moff!!
I'm planning to bring a very accurate, fully lit, studio scale Galactica to the show (I'm about 80% done with it at this point).

If I finish the Gal, I was already planning on throwing in a rag tag ship of my own, as i have almost 200 kits from this project. Was going to make one similar to the foundry ship (using the texaco tanker). SO, I think this is an excellent challenge to put out there. I'd love to have a fleet to go with the Big G.

A few of my buddies are also getting started on the Gal also, and they are shooting to get 'em done for the show too, so hopefully we have a fleet of Battlestars and RagTags!!!

Cool. Very cool.

Lol - heya Sean,
Yeah, I was floating my idea by Ryan on the phone today as we talked about the Cylon Tanker, and he mentioned you had the same idea a week or so ago - lol! Small world. You planning on a Blade Runner blimp too? Because if you are, GET OUT OF MY HEAD!! :lol

I have two Texaco Tankers set aside for a RagTag of my own design - wanted to make the Ambrosia Distillery... but I have a few other ideas too. I thought it'd be cool if one of the ships was a big capacitor - like the Fleet's battery (or power droid, if you will). Something with lots of solar collectors and a real utilitarian look. But aren't they all? All those odds and sods from the Leopold and Karl have to go somewhere right?

I can't wait to see your Gal, and finally meet you! We were bummed that the airlines messed with you - was looking forward to see you at WF. Next year for sure!

Awesome.

I wonder what it would cost to ship my Galactica halfway around the world to WF? I'm shuddering at the thought of the damage that could occur!:eek

Maybe for WF 2012....

Ive started the SOCIALATOR ship! Yes... it has Multipal "docking" ports for those Galactica Warriors to put their big vipers into :love ... damn I feel dirty.. great idea Jason.

Started planning mine . . . so I got dibs on these . . .

Gonna do the Baah Pakal (the ship Chief gets his DDG-62 engines for the BlackBird from in TNS "Flight of the Phoenix")
Galactica - Tool Room
=========================================

Tigh: What's this, chief?

Tyrol: I'm making solvent, sir, to clean machine parts.

Tigh: Solvent my ass. I know a still when I smell it. What the hell are you up to?

Tyrol: I need booze to trade for parts. I'm scrounging most of what I can from the fleet, but I need engines. I know I need Commander Adama's permission to cannibalize o*ne of the wrecks.

Tigh: Engines or not, we both know that piece of crap out there is never going to fly.

Tyrol: I gotta try, Colonel.

Tigh: What's the point?

Tyrol: Because that ship, the work, that's all I've got left. I don't have that, I--

Tigh: I almost forgot. I promised the XO of the Baah Pakal I'd help him out.

Tyrol: Sir?

Tigh: He's got some obsolete DDG-62 engines taking up space o*n his flight deck. They're probably crap, but I told him that I would have a crew in there to haul 'em out as soon as possible.

Tyrol: Glad to be of help, sir.

Tigh: Good.

Gonna make it a bit like the Celstra . . . nice big hanger deck, possibly the ship where post-Peggy going down in flames the fleet transfered some of the stuff needed to keep cranking out those pretty new MK 7B's . . .

Also looking at doing the Brenik . . . the ship Tigh was on in the first Cylon War that was boarded by Centurions. I'm thinking engine section like the classic GALS greebly wise, with a thinner body and head, with a single large deck hanger bay slung under the belly. Will be MUCH smaller than the GAL . . .

Nice thing is . . . neither of these has ever been seen, so TELL me I'm wrong!

FInally got my little guys (and a Cement Factory) from Deutschland (LOL).... now I can work on this design again. Cement bits are going to become engine parts, seen here crudely taped in place:

Some parts are still "wonky" as they haven't been glued down yet, but you get the gist.
