Avp predator ship progress

well sorry its been a while, but ive been really slamed with things, anyway
heres some progress shots of the predator ship from avp.
what ive included is, a over all rough sketch i did for the really detailed schematics..
an extreamly------- rough scetch i did of the top main ship section for break down plans- without center piece cowling that turns into the giant bird beak thing over the rear engines??
then last the basic-basic shape carved from foam
15lb same stuff the aircraft\ fx industrie uses to make there prototypes and models
ill have more updates in a week or two but its coming along faster than i expected
ben isitts] bens artworks, is an amazing fx prop artist and is doing a fanastic job on this!!
as far as size that candle it sitting on is four inches in diamiter

me too.. its one of my top picks, it just has this whole aggressive weapon in space look to it,
graceful , somewhat organic, but would make your life a living hell if you cross paths with it.
ill have some great new uppdatesw really soon
 
ya know ill find out he gets it from nor-west plastics? they make it for the aircraft industries mainly general dynamics /boeing. in wich they take it and make parts from and proto type mokups. heath tecna uses it as well for there proto interior mok ups

the fx guys on terminator used it for the hks and the tv series star trek next gen they made the enterprise from it..
for that the model team made a plex glass rib frame and they then slid this foam in between the ribs and sculpted..then it was nitro shot and coated withe resin, from that molds ...then the fiberglass enterprise was born.
its been widly used in the fx ind for a ton of props
its amazing but dusty and extreamly spendy

ok heres some more early shaping stage photos of how the pred ship is coming along still alot a head of us to do
 
the next section we will be adding will be the one outlined in red in this picture.... but we still have some work to do on what we have, were cleaning up alot of the ships lines ,these pics are mainly of the shaping prosses
now its make it clean and sharp time... then we add this section

Been wondering if someone would ever take the plunge and do a model of this ship. I love the design, and can't wait to see more progress.
 
thank you again , i love this ship and so do many predator fans, even though avp and avp-r had its ups and downs- the ship and there hardware is amazing. this is long long over due.
this has not been an easy build as i thought it would be:angry
were constantly seeing new details:angry in the screen caps that we have.. so its very very important that i get this foundation correct.. then everything els we add will just flow.
so at this point were making final adjustments to the overall shape, mainly the rear engine area, were cleanig up lines and such.

in the next two weeks, well be adding the side detail ,as explained above,
then well start on the front details, the eye shaped docking bays, and the id4 attacker like trench detail going around the bays and on the top of the ships front.
from that point when that is done before we move forward were gonna go over it ,compair screen caps to each area. finalize....

3D builder youll love this stuff its amazing to work with

last we will be making the new predators ship as well
an thats gonna be a dream to build thanks to alex toader
posting his work he did on the film:love
that will be a 14 to 18inch long piece as well
 
not to much has happened in the last 2weeks on the pred ship.
at this point were trenching the top front detail and the landing / docking bays
and the detail that gose w/ and around them the vein tribal pattern
heres a couple shots
