Avengers Iron Man question

While watching the Avengers this weekend I noticed when Iron Man flies the nuke into space, once he's through the portal in space two "boosters" look like they fall off his armor. Is that what those were or were they off the missile? They look like they come off his shoulders or his back.

They were the rocket boosters on his shoulders.

If you watch closely, things are popping off him all the time.

Yep he has one-off features on his suits, like the laser he uses to get debris off of the helicarrier (same sorta lasers he uses as in IM2,) Those boosters must be one-time-use too, since he knows he can just make and improve the next suit

Those were the shoulder pods that carried the missiles. The shoulder and thigh missile pods were disconnected by the time Tony fell back down to Earth, along with the chest flaps. When you strip the Mk7 down, it looks like this:
