Now I wanna know if that’s the actual mask design

Marcus and Mcfeely better be involved. Cuz Cherry taught me they ain’t much without em.

Tho Grey Man wasn’t the greatest either

Setting aside the fact that I don’t care, and only want to see Disney and Marvel burn down, it’s obvious that they have no interest in casting the right actor for the role, and sticking to the source material.

Doom has a European accent and should look (prior to his accident) sorta-kinda like a young Stan Lee, as filtered through Kirby’s pencil.

But they don’t care.

It's funny, people will loose their mind over certain aspects of the multiverse like
Chris Evans coming back as Johnny Storm for a massive dollop of fan service in the Deadpool and Wolverine film
, yet they don't accept RDJ coming back to take on a new role within those same storytelling parameters.
Fans are a fickle bunch.

I think this is a really bold move to bring RDJ back and am really interested to see what he does with the role.
The Russos returning is the real cherry on the cake.
As long as Deadpool isn't in the film I will be absolutely delighted.

The spoiler part is a different situation though to this one.

It may be bold, but will it work?

As an aside, to me it’s not fan service, it’s looking like fan milking to an extreme, that even I can’t justify/explain/defend, and that’s saying something considering my position in many comments on here. Despite enjoying two further projects, i’m still going to repeat my thought that Endgame should’ve been the last one for at least a decade.

The spoiler part really isn't that much different. It's fan service.

There's no way Marvel/Disney would have ended their run with Endgame. There is something to be said for going out on a high but when there is money to be made, no business is going to stop production on a successful and lucrative franchise.

I think the whole Fox-Marvel set of films should be completely separate from the MCU and never should have crossed over, a hard reset with the casting rather than bringing in Patrick Stewart and High Jackman again to appease fans.
The only reason Deadpool had any tentative links to the MCU was because of a corporate merger and I'm sure that is referenced in the film at some point because it's a lazy, cheap laugh which a section of fandom will wet their pants over.

When Marvel have tried to branch out into wider storytelling woth different characters, a section of fandom always gets their pants in a knot about there being women or people of colour or anything that isn't what they want, this lead to some saying the MCU is dying so I can see why they brought back RDJ without undoing his legacy as Iron Man.
It's a difficult situation for them to be in and I can see why they've opted to bring him back, along with the Russos.

There's great potential in having RDJ as a new character/variant of Tony who has a different path in life that leads him to become Dr Doom.

I disagree. It’s quite different using an actor again in a role they have done before, to using an actor who is synonymous with a specific character in the MCU as a completely different one in another Avengers film.

There's no way Marvel/Disney would have ended their run with Endgame.
Which highlights a bigger issue with their priorities.

Who said stop completely. An eight year gap and actor change hardly stopped the James Bond series making money. In fact it arguably made the subsequent film have bigger impact due to the reset.

But using your previous point, why wouldn’t they do crossovers when there’s money to be made from fans?

I can see what reasons they have. I just completely disagree that it is either a good idea, or something that will work when RDJ is, as I said, so inextricably linked with an already existing character.

Of course, but the whole multiverse thing, for me personally has been done to death and only really worked well in the Spiderman film. Why can’t we have a proper Victor Von Doom with another actor to have a chance of making a place for themselves in the MCU?
