Took me a while to get the pieces I wanted together. Missed Wizard World Comic Con in PDX 'cause my wife and I just had a new baby, so this one's planned to be done before Age of Ultron releases for the premier. Pics to follow of my progress.

So, for the midsection I've settled on a vinyl white and red.20150125_163913.jpg20150125_175659.jpg

Also working on the shield already. Got a steel snow saucer and cut it down with my dremel to get it scaled.20150119_184442.jpg20150121_161053.jpg

Received my chest star and back buckle from cosplaysky.com, they are gonna be great. Nice details, and I like that they are metal.

Got the sleeves together. The "red" stripe is actually a maroonish, but I like the contrast it gives to the costume. Many of the pictures look like the sleeves differ from the main piece anyway.

Thanks JLeezy23. I'm currently adding the sleeves to a pre-constructed pair of coveralls, as well as the different leg details. The main torso will be a separate piece that attaches over the top. Progress pics soon. Also, searching for a helmet, leaning heavily towards those made by Maulfett.

At first, I gotta say, I was disappointed. Using the stripper with my sandpaper block and even my stripping pads seemed to have little effect, and quickly used tons of energy. I left it sit overnight(he'd mention 1/2 hour). But this morning, the paint is literally pulling away from the metal with little effort. I highly recommend this now, if you're starting your shield from a flex flyer base.

Picked up some 22g plain steel sheets for the bracket assembly. Gonna get some of the heavy dremel blades to finish em up. The ones I already had got eaten in nothin flat.

Saw that some people were none too thrilled with the Citristrip approach. There was mention that it only worked on the front side. I have had just as much luck and ease on both using it, so figured I'd share the process. First, sand and scour the area you're stripping. Then I applied an even coat over the entire surface. Wait about 4 hours and take your scour pad around the entire edge of your saucer shield, you should be able to take 1/2 to 1 whole inch of paint off the edges. Do another whole coat of Citristrip and let it sit for another 12 hours. Then I remove all the stripper with warm water and dry it immediately. From there on it peels off in bits and chunks with little effort. By the end it looks like you are standing over a mass grave of red balloons.

Wife made a very valid point today. We have a brand new baby, and between work and a full time class schedule, my costuming got out of hand. I'll only have time to finish up my shield before the premiere, then I need to dial back and be more family centered. Still gonna keep this thread open as progress happens, but it'll be a more laxed pace. Thanks for the support so far, and I hope as I continue on the info might help someone. Anyone looking for more of the actual costume should check out SMPdesigns, his work is amazing.
