Just finished watching it. It was awesome...
Serious spoilers.... don't read if you don't want to know.
Starts out fast paced... right into battle fighting their way into Baron Strucker's fortress to retrieve the staff from the first movie.
Quicksilver dies... lameness. I was really hoping it would be War Machine. He was shot by Ultron when he runs to save Hawkeye.
Banner and Romanov kiss. They have a slowly starting romance.
Banner ditches out after the battle is over in a quinjet while in stealth mode.
Linda Cardellini plays Hawkeye's wife
The mystery Asian woman from the trailer is Dr. Helen Cho... her role is pretty integral to the story since her "Regeneration Cradle" is used to build Vision.
Sta Lee's cameo is as a WWII vet... that gets wasted on some of Thor's hooch.
The team knows The Vision is good... when he picks up Thor's hammer.
Movie ends with a new team assembled at a new Avengers HQ in upstate NY: Cap, Widow, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon
The scene in the trailer of Thor coming out of a pool is him being shown a vision that involves being shown the Infinity Stones.
Hulkbuster armor is launched from an orbital satellite called F.R.I.D.A.Y. (don't know what it stands for). It also comes with spare parts. I guess Stark anticipated that Hulk would be tearing it apart during the fight. Ultimately Stark wins the fight.
I think any rumors of Red Hulk are based on Scarlet Witch's spell on his which makes his eyes red (opinion)
The settings are all over the place.
Vision looks like a young Peter Weller.
I wasn't able to see an end scene but based on the IMDb cast credits, it shows Thanos since Josh Brolin is listed as Thanos.
Didn't see anything that hinted at Black Panther aside from location.
Overall I enjoyed it. It was long though and I don't think it had the same pace that the first movie did. The Avengers theme music from the first movie was kept.
I'll definitely see it again.
I agree the pacing/flow definitely wasn't as seamless as the first movie.
I thought the safehouse thing was setting us up for the major tragedy Hawkeye dying in battle. I think I read how Renner was pissed about not having more of a story in the previous movie. That element of this movie felt shoe horned in.
How some of the "prime" members go their separate ways and are replaced by the second-stringers felt a little weird too... Like a dine-and-dash at a really expensive restaurant.
Yeah we do that for most movie threads which had only couple of pages of pre-release discussion. Movies (especially big franchise ones) which had several pages of existing pre-release discussion, tend to get a separate post-release thread.
i didn't catch the Veronica name explanation or F.R.I.D.A.Y. Any idea what that was an acronym for?
I haven't been watchin Agents of SHIEL lately. Any chance Fury's acquisition of the helo carrier from "an old friend" was a crossover reference? If not they definitely wasted that opportunity. Could have somehow been worked into a episode to link to the movie.
Tony picked the Friday AI from a bunch of different ones, I didn't see the names, but its possible there was one for each day of the week, or it could simply be a shout out to the film "my girl friday"

Well that probably could have been in a spoiler tag...
Anyways, we still have one more episode before the U.S. premiere. We have recently seen the appearance of a SHIELD aircraft carrier named the Illiad. The show does not mention that it is a helicarrier but appearently that name was used for a helicarrier atleast one point in the comics.
Iliad - First shown in Secret Warriors #4. Named in Secret Warriors #17. Another Helicarrier of a different design is operating under that name as of Secret Avengers v.2 # 1.
Oh, I just read a bit further down on the wikipedia page,
S.H.I.E.L.D.'s replacement agency, H.A.M.M.E.R., has decommissioned the surviving Helicarriers,[3] with three of them — including the Iliad and the Argonaut — being stolen by Nick Fury.[4]
As Whedon has implied there is no tie in between M:AoS and the films at this point I'd imagine it's just a nod toward Fury stealing them in the comics.

11. - VERONICA, that's the name of the system for the Hulkbuster armor launched from the satellite. F.R.I.D.A.Y. is the female-voiced interface that Tony uses in his Mark XLV armor later.
and...
15. - Yes, the mid-credit scene shows Thanos retrieving his gauntlet (sans gems) and saying that he'll just have to do everything himself.
Its definitely a B team at the end, but I am hoping infinity wars will also feature the guardians of the galaxy, Ant Man, and Doctor Strange, as well as Spiderman.
Plus if the FF film really bombs at the cinema, maybe they can get the rights to those back too.
I have seen the boot on the internet because I had to know the outcome of the Scepter. I was shocked to be honest.. Not so much as to what, heck we were told even by Marvel in the Phase 3 announcement that it did indeed hold a Infinity Stone, but more over the color of it. Blew my mind!
I just can't figure out the whole blue crystal of the
Scepter that held it. Is there a discussion area for this anywhere here???
I am a bit disappointed. This was the third movie I was able to watch within the last two years on the big screen, and I feel like I should have spent those babysitter points on another movie. It is entertaining but sometimes really drags its feet. There imo is a lot of exposition going on through he whole movie, a lot of talking heads that imo put brakes on the pace. It sometimes feels formulaic and predictable. I missed some depth, I expected a few surprises that a non-Marvel afficcionado would also enjoy. That said, I have the feeling that Marvel movies become less and less accessible for a really broad audience.
I did enjoy the movie, but mostly because I am a fan.
It was good, but this feels like putting things in place for Infinity War rather than a story that actually needed to be told. Yes, it introduced Wanda and Vision and confirmed which gem was in Loki's staff, but beyond that it felt like just shuffling pieces and making up to Jeremy Renner for spending half of the last film as a mind-controlled lackey. Avengers at least paid off all the ground work that Phase 1 laid. Both Avengers movies felt unbelievably paint-by-numbers comic book predictable to me, which is not necessarily a bad thing but it's nothing novel either.
The Whedon-speak feels out of place to me too. I generally enjoy that quirk of his writing, but since the Avengers films are the only films where the characters talk like that it's a little jarring. That could have been dialed back a little. I also hope they don't go to the team cohesion well again next time, it's been done enough.
They sure were pushing hard for the audience to think Hawkeye might die in this film. Might have worked if they didn't announce him being in Civil War before the film came out. I was glad to see him get plenty of development after being a cameo in Thor and not himself for most of Avengers. Very nice touch that the new baby was named about Quicksilver.
I'm sure it will grow on me, I enjoyed but wasn't enamored with Avengers at first but I warmed to that. It was a fun film, but it didn't wow me like Winter Soldier or Dark Knight did.
With all the reviews out there, I actually liked this film a lot more than I was expecting. Couple of things I really really liked.
- The party turned out a lot better than I thought it would.x
- I liked how protecting people was a high priority.
- Barton's family. How many comic book heroes do you know who have this, let alone comic book movies that would give it as much attention like AoU did? In this comic book era where married couples are looked down upon and writers will leave projects over it, this is a huge deal. No fridging, no break up, just a super hero with a family he loves.
- The Infinity Stones being established to our heroes.
- The good ol'64! YES! I was so happy to see it! I was a bit bummed out that it didn't feature any of the upgrades from the helicarriers from WS since the lego set implied that it had received them.
- Falcon is red! Warmachine, Scarlett Witch and Vision as Avengers? I'm so there. To everyone who thinks this ensemble is weak, don't worry. She's on her way.
- Peggy! Don't go!
- Ultron's "That which doesn't kill you" reveal.
I liked this film a lot. I really did. Do I like it better than the first? Some areas yes, some areas no. It's got a weird balance thing going on. I don't want to say it wasn't as good as the first movie, but I don't want that to come off as a disappointment because this film didn't disappoint me! I wasn't looking for a film that would be better than the first Avengers, I wanted the next story and it delivered in areas I was not expecting.
Now, having said all that... I do hope an 'Extended Cut' of the film film will happen. Some areas felt like they were rushed and I wouldn't mind sitting through a potentially 3+ hour film if that meant getting rid of all those moments where I thought something was skipped over, which did feel like a lot.

And this applies to most franchise characters in general. And despite that when the audience gets concerned about the outcome for a character from a dicey situation, that's when you know that those are compelling characters.
