Avatar Wan from the Legend of Korra

I was wondering if anyone familiar with Eastern clothing can tell me what that band around his waste is called, and any references in how to make on would be useful!

IIRC it's an Obi, any of the threads on Jedi tunics would be useful to you, since they were heavily influenced by this style of clothing,

I loved the Avatar Wan story, everything from the characters to the way the world was in his time and especially the different art style they used to emphasise the ancient look/feel.
