Avatar upload not working

If I try to change my avatar by uploading, it won't change to the new image. It shows the change in size of the image as if it uploaded the new image, but shows the old image except pixelated. The change in size of the image matches any new image I try to upload but I still see the same old image in the avatar. I try removing the old avatar and reuploading but the old image shows up again. When I link an image from another site THEN it shows the new image. Please help.

I was having a similar problem uploading a new avatar. I found that if I deleted my current avatar, then close the browser, opened a new browser and then uploaded the new avatar it seemed to work.
