Audrey II Costume Base Advice

Hi I am currently in the blueprint aspect of my Audrey II model which I want to harness to myself for the upcoming NYCC in october. (I will be dressed as Seymour). This being so I am faced with a few challenges on how to make Audrey:
- I am a poor college student
- AudII needs to be lightweight enough to carry around
- I'm new to the prop/costume world

My desired Audrey is 2 parts, top and bottom, for the purpose of having inner mouth detail. I was aiming to paint it in some form of latex and/or acrylic in order to achieve a purposeful glossy/matte combo to get a realistic "plant-effect" similar to the film. I have been trying to find better reference and puppet blueprints to their Audrey but have had no luck.

Any suggestions on how to build the base (on a budget if possible)?

At first I was going to sculpt audrey and mold it, however the cost of the clay would be too much as I would like it to be fairly large. Then I was considering making a metal base out of corset lining and putting urethane foam over it, subtracting the main form, and adding details such as lips and foliage texture using an epoxy clay. My problem with that is I would need to therefor seal the open foam, but since it is not the thicker foam I use for armor, I'm not sure if it would seal to well with latex.

All suggestions/tips would be very helpful thank you!
