"At the Mountains of Madness" Expedition Patch

In 1930 an expedition from Miskatonic University arrived in the Antarctic. Shortly thereafter a remote survey camp began exploring a newly discovered chain of mountains and radioed back the details of an incredible discovery.

Hours later, every man in the camp was dead.

While Antarctic collectibles aren't the normal interest here, I think this one is an exception: the incredibly hard to obtain "Wings Over Antarctica" patch from the ill-fated Miskatonic University expedition.

Nice patch!
If I may ask, where did you get it?

It's being produced for an upcoming run of the "Beyond the Mountains of Madness" Call of Cthulhu RPG adventure from Chaosium. We wanted some nifty props for the game and decided the patch would make a great item to hand out to everyone involved.

Since we haven't gamed in years, we've gotten a bit giddy with the possibilities...including putting together a teaser trailer:

We'll probably have some more prop items before we finally get around to running the game in August.

LOL I still have my Arkham Book pass and Miskoatonic school ID and certificate. As well my Cthulhlu for President kit. :) Great patch.

The trailer is great!! Very nice job on the editing! ..The haunted house (Netherworld) that I work with is more-or-less HPL based :D
Love the patch..I don't game, but would love to buy one separately..

Linky for your haunted house?

The patch, and some other ATMOM props, should be available in late August. I'll make a post in the Junkyard when that happens. We're looking into the possibilities of also doing a period map of Antarctica, sketches from the "dissection", and photographs of the curiously well-preserved fossils discovered by the party. If it all pans out it should make quite a display.

Cordially,
MM

Edit: Or I could just use the top link for "Netherworld" on Google. Heh.

The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society is also a good page to look at. They've got a section for paper props. Plus, they've made two H.P. Lovecraft adaptations, one of them was released a while ago ("The Call of Cthulhu", which I happen to have a copy of and it is amazingly done), the other is currently in the middle of editing. They've even got a store that sells H.P. Lovecraft related items, including some replica props. I definitely recommend you check them out: http://www.cthulhulives.org/toc.html
