I was browsing through some ESB hi-res screen caps and noticed that one of the set dressings used the same clear cubes found on the backplate of the AT-AT pilots.
I believe that they are some sort of magnifying tool. I remember a long time ago, a co-worker of mine had one that they used to keep on their desk to proof photographs.
It is made out of solid glass, or clear acrylic.
Maybe with some other resourceful people looking we might be able to find the exact model.

Here's the pics. Top row is the cube as it appears on the AT-AT pilot backplate, and the bottom row is the high res screen cap.
For scale purposes, I estimate the size to be approx. 1.5" to 1.75" square.
