Okay, I've been waiting for a while for this, and now it's finally going on sale in a month.

The pico projector. At $359 US, I've been waiting to put one into my Artoo, so he can finally project Leia's message for Obiwan.

Anyone else been thinking about it? More than that, has anyone isolated the video of Leia yet? Not sure yet how I'm going to drive the signal, probably through a small pmp.

Isolating her isn't that big a deal, just a bit of roto'ing. I've roto'd that scene, but I grabbed the entirety of the projection, not just Leia.

What about rotoscoping her head from a scene where she's facing forward in ANH (Vader questioning her). Then you frame by frame digitally Forrest Gump manipulate her lip animation to match the dialog. Then you film someone wearing a replica of her robe facing forward recreating her movements. Finally you combine that digitally reworked face into the face area of the person you filmed in the costume recreating her movements.

Alternately just turn up at Carrie's house with a few hundred bucks, areplica of that white dress and a crate of beer and ask her nicely if she'll do it for you again.

After the crate of beer you wont notice the difference

The best part about roto is when you start tracing stuff in your head on the way home.

big hurdle: Leia is not on screen the entire time. They cut away to reaction shots, so you can't have the entire message. Plus, when they do cut back to her, it's at different angles.
