Armored Sunspot cosplay

After much thinking, i've decided to start on a sunspot cosplay. Right now i'm in the planning stages, but I think that it'll come together nicely. I've got most of the elements of the costume down, aside from the pants.

Planning to use this armored vest, and paint the top plate yellow after removing the webbing. I'll be using the symbol/emblem from the Marvel Now depiction of Sunspot in the center. Underneath the armor, I plan to wear a simple underarmor tank-top

For the arms/shoulders, as not to leave them bare, I'll be bastardizing the following Motorcross armor, and taking the mesh off to preserve the sleeveless look. The rest of the armor will be repurposed to armor the thighs and butt. All the plastic armor on the arms are going to be painted yellow

For the pants, i'm still unsure as to what i'll do. I'd like to go for the same armored look that wolverine has (future wolverine that is) in days of future past, but i can't seem to find anything similar to it. in the meantime, the backup is to use these pants, and armor them up with the chest/back armor from the aforementioned motorcross armor, and taper the bottoms of the legs to fit tighter.

For knee armor, i'll just use these. simple, good looking, whats not to love

For the shins, i'll be using these pieces with the knee's cut off

And finally, maybe these boots?

If anyone has any ideas for the pants, i'd be more then happy to hear them

update: ordered the majority of the pieces, as soon as i get the chest plates i'll start altering/scribing into them

Got the chest armor today, already started to take off the webbing/remove the stitching. It's a pain in the ass, and the depressions left from it will have to be filled with bondo or some filling agent

Turns out the shin/knee armor i was going to use works perfectly as shoulder/arm guards. who knew?
