Armor Advice

Hi, so one of the cosplays I plan on doing next is Gambit. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on building "muscle armor" like his chest piece from the comics. I understand basic armor building methods, I'm just not sure how to achieve the muscle look. Thanks for any tips you can provide.

I'm currently building gambit for Halloween. Here is what I've done so far. Plan on finishing with rondo. Made with 4mm Eva. Formed the chest piece then glued on the muscles (those just came from sketching idea. Coated with 3 layers of elmers
