Interest Ark of the Covenant kit

Simply put, I'm working on a kit for the Ark of the Covenant and need to gauge interest. I've done the fertility idols and the cherubs for the ark, but with everything else on my workbench, I need to prioritize what gets made. I've already completed most of the 3D design work but these are big parts which will tie up my largest printer for a few months, just to print the masters. So before I go any further, I need to know if there is enough interest to justify the resources.




The final kits will be cast resin, molded from my original 3D masters. The side panels and cherubs will be hand sculpted to preserve the original look. The price I'm aiming for is around $1600 per kit.

If you are not familiar with my work, I do this professionally for Disney, Universal, Bethesda, and other major companies, so you're going to get a top quality kit.

With the Ark being made from 3D assets are the panels scanned from the original? I saw you worked for Disney and I know they have a few Arks so I'm curious if this is the provenance?

To clarify, I'm not and never have been an employee of Disney. I'm an independent contractor that does props and Special FX. And while Disney is one of our better clients, I don't have access to their warehouses where I can roam and scan at will.

As I said in the description, the side panels, like the cherubs and the idols, will be hand sculpted. One of the things I'm known for in the industry is my ability to exactly replicate a sculpture down to millimeter accuracy.

I was planning on taking input from the buyers on what they would like to see. But overall my intent was to go with fewer parts and easier assembly so that it could be assembled without woodworking skills or tools.

Here's a little teaser on the progress.

I went through the entire movie and took hi-res stills of every shot the ark is in. Switching back and forth on transparency allows me to make sure every proportion is dead-on.

Life sized. But once I have the digital files finished I'll be able to make them in any size.
