Are MR Force FX 'sabers valuable?

Didn't know where better to ask this, but are Master Replicas 'Saber's valuable these days? Now that they're not in production, i mean.

I see the Vader ANH on ebay at the moment for $199.99 GBP - I assume the high price is because its a first edition (sw-202s) but is this the going rate? (I only ask as I have one myself, along with a few others)

You can go to Toytracker.net to get an approximated value of what each MR piece has been going for on Ebay. Its pretty handy to use for a guideline when buying and selling MR stuff.

From what I read the other day, the Luke Jedi sabers command a hefty price right now. I went and checked on the Bay and they were up there over 200.00, and some over 300.00

There are 2 issues of the Jedi Luke FX saber: The 2003 EL version and the 2005 LED version.

The first is kinda crappy and the blade is a pale blueish green as opposed to the bright and vibrant color the LED version provides.

The LED version is highly sought after because it's the only regular sized (i.e. Yoda) green FX saber available at the moment.

The old EL version is only interesting from a collecting point of view, as it is technically outdated.

This type of hilt is also considered by many to be the best for tricks and spinning.

If Hasbro re-issue this one, it will most likely bring down the price of the MR version.

The problem with all FX sabers is that, to an extent, they are oversized. Some more than others. Even the Luke ROTJ. The closest in size to the actual prop are the Maul, Vader ESB and newest Vader ANH, and the Luke ANH. Now that is just size not detail wise. And I agree, the Luke ROTJ is great for spinning. For a little more heft, the Obi ROTS is good too.

The secondary market can be very sticky for these. I have seen some sellers inflating the price to unrealitic heights. If you watch, you can find a great deal on these OOP sabers.

With the announcement of the new Dooku and Obi TPM FX sabers from Hasbro there seems to be some new life in this line.

NO! They are CRAP!

Totally inaccurate! Whoever designed them is a soulless corporate egomaniac, just trying to get our money.

My baby broke one. They snap like twigs!!!

MR sux!!!

hahahahaha....

I wanted to post it before someone else did.

That felt good. :)

:lol:lol:lol:lol I started reading this before I saw who posted it, and my first thought was, "Oh boy, wait'll Steve sees this." lol For what it's worth, I LOVE the FX sabers. The size differences can't be helped for the awesome price they're available for, and I'm cool with that.

while true that most of the FX sabers were rubbish, i have to say, the ESB and 2nd ANH Vaders were pretty darned accurate. Ive seen pics comparing the LE's and the FX saber hilts to those things and i was totally blown away at the size and general detailing. Beyond that however, yes, the FX sabers blow. that being said, I still plan on getting the upcoming Obi wan TPM FX saber on account that its the only way for me to get a bladed/lit Obi TPM with out spending at least $300. Besides, ive got a TPM hilt from the starkiller run, so im set! hehehe

Well, to get back to the secondary market value and not the quality issues: I sold an MR Obi-Wan FX right before the Hasbro were released for $200. Some of it comes down to how nice and new the saber you want to sell is, does it have the original boxes, has it been used, is their any damage, does it still have the stickers on it, etc. If it looks brand new and is still in the box it's probably more desirable. The other half of getting a higher price depends on how long you want to stick to the high price. I put up my OWK for $199 BIN and just let it ride until someone bought it. It was never used and in the original MR carton and the original shipping box. So someone thought that was valuable.

I know some people feel that the MR FX's are superior to the Hasbro models regardless of the fact that they are made exactly the same way. So there is a secondary market still of people trying to find specific MR FXs. Obviously there are the more collectible models of the FX like the crappy EL Luke and Anakin AOTC, the Luke ESB, the old Vader, etc. Basically the ones that were never reissued and haven't been re-released by Hasbro yet. The Luke ROTJ 2005 LED version is probably the most favored FX made and people still want to buy them. So right now they are sought after but if Hasbro releases their version the market may come down.

But like I said there's still weirdos who think the MR versions are better for some reason.:angel

This stuff is worth whatever the people who pay for them think it's worth.

As great as guides are, it's ultimately what fans pay that determines an item's worth.

Things go for whatever the person who wins the bid pays for them at the time of an auction closing.

I've seen so many things go for higher than what they were worth (IMHO) and at times ridiculously low prices.

You can pretty much guess what I wish I COULD have paid for some things online! :lol

I don't particularly care for the FX grips. Like other posters have said, I feel they're way too oversized and basic detailing is inaccurate -- especially the ROTJ Luke and ANH/ROTS Obi-Wan sabers... Despite the lack of sound and saber ignition (which are admittedly neat on the MR/FX blades), I prefer the more accurately-sized and more durable EL/Phase sabers... Not that I own any of these sabers myself, but I just think they're a more accurate representation of what we saw in the films and they generally look better in motion (to my eyes) than the MR/FX stuff.
