ARC Troopers- Educate me!

Gone but not forgotten.
I recently finally caught the Clone Wars cartoons and took a liking to these guys.

What can everyone tell me about them?

Are their helmets just AOTC helmets with added Boba antennas, or should they be "slightly" different with new details that are only noticeable upon close inspection?

Are they ever seen in the actual movies, or just in the cartoon?

How big a fan following do these guys have?

thanks!

If you go to clonetroopers.net they have a whole section on these bad boys. They are the bad mama Jammas of clones!!!!!!! The only thing that sucks is they were in the comics and the clone wars cartoon and books. Never made it in any movie. If you want to see how bad these dudes are, Read "Triple Zero" by Karen Traviss. Actually I would suggest both books she wrote. The other one is "Hard Contact." They are about the Republic Commandos but the Arcs and in particular the Null Arcs are in the stories. The Nulls are a different breed of Arc all their own. As far as the helmets and armor.......There was a member here who made the action figure version of the armor awhile back. Last I checked he doesn't make it anymore. Mostly guys are using just regular Clone armor with added bells and whistles. The helmet is a EP II helmet and there are different versions of the range finder that goes on it. One style is the basic Fett type range finder, if you check out the comics, the range finder on that helemt sort of wraps around the helmet so its curved. Hope that helps.

Arc Troopers are very popular. The best source of images of their gear is in the various Star Wars comics. While the artwork on the clone wars cartoon was stylized, it was basicly correct. The helmets are a mix of the trooper helmet and Jango's bucket (with the ear/stalk peice.)

And according to wikipedia, most of the Clone commanders (the ones w/ names) were trained by the ARC's and modified their armor/uniforms to be more ARC-like out of respect.

What you want to go for is to be a Null ARC. They are basically exact clones of Jango that were tests for the ARC line. They were "imperfect" so they were going to be destroyed because they were unstable (freakin crazy). One of the Mandalorian sergeants saved them and trained them. So if you're going for badass it has to be them. They look just like regular ARCs, but you need to *say* you're a Null ARC. :lol

I thought I read a few years ago, that even Jango wasn't a real Mandalorian, and that he was taken in by the real Mandalorians as an orphan. :wacko:wacko:wacko

Damn EU..... :p

Well, that's not quite it. The story comes from the Open Seasons comics. Jango was born to a Mandalorian family. His father was the Journeyman Protector of Concord Dawn. He helped out Jaster Mereel, whose group of Mando'ade was being hunted down by a dude named Visla, leader of the Death Watch. Visla killed Jango's family (jango is just a kid at this time). Jango met up with Jaster and the others and escaped. Jaster took Jango under his wing and trained him. Later Jaster was killed by Visla, and Jango led the Mandalorians. But anyways, there were lots of Mandalorians, Jango wasn't the last.

Back on topic, I think the ARC troopers kick shebs and I'm sure you'd have fun making this costume Sarge.

The Mandalorians aren't a race at the time of the movies. They are more of a lifestyle/belief system. It's VERY common for them to adopt orphans into their families as their son/daughter. Jango hired several Mandos to help him train all the clones. Who did you think did all the training for millions of troopers, Jango alone? :)

If I remember right, Jango only personally trained ARCs and some commandos.

They were once. What we call Mandalorians used to be called the Mandalorian GUARDS. That's the uniform Boba and Jango wear.

They're clones, they're all taught through programs, only the ARCS were trained personally. That's why they get extra stuff to wear and slick kamas :cool
