Apex Legends: Mastiff

Started modelling this the other day as I really like the design of it and haven't seen anyone else making one.
Think I may have bitten off more than I can chew with this one as I haven't been using Fusion long and I only get a few hours occasionally to work on it. Finished some other props in Fusion recently I may make another thread for those.

Model is shaping up nice man. Best of luck on the build. Apex is a great game and the weapons from the Titanfall universe look fantastic translated into real life.

Thanks :) I want to build it, but I don't own a 3d printer yet, that'll be a future project, but I'll try and update this as the model develops. I never played Titanfall but I've seen people make rifles and the wingman pistol and thought they were really nice designs.

Fusion is a pretty intuitive software. Looking good!
Thank you :) I've only been working with it properly for about a month, really love it. Made some smaller props to learn with and I want to build eventually, like a Holotape from Fallout and the Gel explosive gun from the Arkham games.

Its looking really nice!

Doing this kind of work will help you with learning fusion 360 and become more profient, its all about problem solving.
Apex Legends has some really nice looking weapons, I just started modeling the Wingman - The Death Ray in Fusion360 too, and I'm having a lots of fun.

Keep it up!

Thanks, I've found the best way to learn fusion is to jump in, I learnt about lofts because of a problem I had modelling an odd shape, it's such a brilliant tool. I saw your post looking forward to your updates, the model is looking amazing, love seeing other peoples work inspires me to get better.

I started with Lightsaber models because they seemed easy and it ended up being a cool model to build and print.
But yeah, same here I still struggle with organic shapes and surfaces with odd curves. Need to learn a bit more of sculpt mode.

Speaking of lightsabers thats my next planned prop, Ezra's Lightsaber from Rebels, may start that between bouts of the Mastiff. Not a huge fan of sculpt mode, I've done abit with it but I find it tricky.

Quick update. Finished the stock, added more detail to the rear third and figured out the issues I had modelling the muzzle. Still a bunch of parts to model and detail to add.

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while, been busy with work and family things.
Almost finished it, a few things left to do, the shell loading flap needs finishing and the whole thing needs a bunch of screws adding on.
Then it'll sit unprinted for a long time. It's been a steep learning curve but I'm glad I attempted it.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, sure you can print one, DM me and we can sort some way of getting the files, like I said in other posts I still don't own a printer so I don't know how optimised it'll be.

Before I start on my 1st update I would like to give a very big thanks to Teddy, for creating this model and sharing it to me. I've 3d printed this model on a cr10 at 10%-20% infill, and. 2mm -. 4mm. The parts in the photo are just the parts that surround the grip. The reason I didn't glue the grip with it is because I want to reprint the grip with a diamond texture on the grip. I'm currently working with a free software on Windows (I think it's called 3d object) to texture the grip. Before I print the shotgun shell injector part(sorry I don't know the name of it but it's the part where you put the shotgun shells in) I want to engrave\emboss the side of it with a name and a logo. Right now I'm sanding the grip area smooth and also the shotgun bolt. P.S. the grip in the handle area was just to line everything up and was not actually glued in.

Sorry its been a while, I've been doing a lot of different work on mastiff. To start off I've been sanding and filling in the print lines on the handle area of the mastiff. I think it needs one more pass over with filler primer and sanding then it's ready for painting. ( I won't start painting the main body till everything is glued) I'm still working on middle of the mastiff, I have half of it printed out and I have the slide printed out. I've added a diamond texture to the slide handle. ( although I think I'm going to reprint it, it has some stringing issues) I finished sanding and filling the underbarrel bolt, I also paintes it but I don't like how it came out so I think I'm going to repaint it. Finally I've been modeling the holosight form titanfall\apex legends. To model the sight I've been using fusion 360. I'm new to fusion and is learning the basics of it, and its fun and amazing, I can already say I love the software. I just wanted to say thanks for reading and have a nice day.

Sorry this update was supposed to come out Saturday, but plans I had for Friday were delayed till Saturday, but know I posting it. To start with I reprinted the front foregrip, I had hired Fused Creations on esty.

To add texture to the foregrip. It took 13hrs 40mins to print one side of the grip(as in both left sides and both right sides) the texture came out really good, I printed it out at 2 mm and 15% infill. Another thing is that have all the parts printed(with the exception of the small parts like the pins and stuff) I plan to start gluing together the rest of the gun when I get an order of 3d gloop. Most of the pieces waiting to be glued are ready to get a coat of filler primer, but I'm waiting to give it a coat so the glue can bound to the plastic. The front flaps are ready to be painted but I'm also going to wait so I can paint every in unison. The left flap I embossed using 3d object(a windows app it was pre installed on my computer) I embossed the name sarapis, with a custom snake S. In the mid section I didn't like how the slide look in it so I trimmed the slide a little and I think it looks way better. ( I just took a hand saw and sawed of a couple millimeters)
