Anyone planning on picking up the Target Helmets and "improving" on them?

And now taped up the other way around.

Haven't decided if I'm going to knock down the brightness of the "chrome" with some steel wool before untaping. It looks nice in the trailers, the Anovos prototype looks very battle-worn, and the reference pics from SW Celebration look somewhat in-between.

TAKE OFF THE TAPE!

I find Kylo Ren much less intimidating with the pictures of sports bras and shoes on his mask.

I was avoiding product placement by covering the Nike lettering and totally missed the bras. :lol

Here you go!

Gonna have to do some minor touch-ups. The chrome paint bled through in a few places. That Rustoleum Chrome paint rocks. :thumbsup

Here is my Target Kylo work in progress.
I am living overseas and can't get spray cans, so I am improvising and using foil for the chrome design.

Well, while working on my Kylo, I was trying to file in the 'step' between the faceplate and the helmet (can't make it look like that straight line from the temple indent down, so it ended up more of a curve, but, whatever) as shown on the Anovos prototype pics, and had a couple of spots that just did not want to let me take enough material away to make the step pronounced enough. Then I realized pursuing a nice step there, I'd actually filed THROUGH the mask on both the left and right sides at that point. Thought the plastic was thicker. Poop. Does anyone know what plastic these things are made out of? For example, can I fill it from behind with bondo, or maybe sqaudron white, and then, once I'm happy with the detail, glass over that?

Scuff up the back, tape over the hole on the front side, and backfill with 2 part epoxy or Apoxie Sculpt would be a better option than squadron

Does anyone know of anybody selling the four clips that go on the target stormtrooper helmet. The mold of the helmet is so poor the clips have lost their detail. I was going to sand them off and add my own more detailed ones and was wondering if anybody was selling them.

p.s. if you don't what the clips are here is a photo of them:

Same as adamsbio, I would like to find out who would have these also !

I have a 3D model that I made of the clips that I need to do some updates to (I made the model when there was scant reference out there).

I've already printed them once for that particular helmet for my kids costume and they turned out OK, but were too thick. I'd planned to do the updates asap to make them more screen accurate so I'm more than happy to offer them for free download If they're of value to people. As said, I just need to find a moment to do the quick revamp. I also don't think I needed to print them as 2 separate parts as I did before so would combine. One thing also, I notice that the Anovos clips are slightly different from the screen ones:

So I'd probably also change to have the more squared off ends like the screen ones (assuming this display costume wasn't a one off!).

Here they are printed bottom left (pre the changes I discussed of course):

And fwiw (apologies If it's already been mentioned in this thread) I do feel that the Target First Order helm is a little small for an adult. Looks too big on my 8 yr old but for me wearing it, it fits OK it just seems to lack the overall dimensions/mass that it should have. But for the price of the thing you can't really go wrong I suppose, particularly If its intended for display only.

After looking at this helmet all week, I decided that it was "way too black." I took a piece of a graphite head gasket and rubbed it all of the black, followed by buffing off the excess with an old t-shirt.

The result might not show up in the pictures, but it helped it a lot. The cloth behind the cheek pieces and the visor are not permanently installed, but I'm calling this project "done" for now. I'll probably make a better visor after watching the movie.

Anyone have a picture of this next to the black series helmet?

I honestly think that after these mods, the target helmet is way more accurate in terms of size...

GREAT JOB Scott. That is inspiring! I have one unmodded begging to become a project!

Floored! Great job

Thanks, guys!

I wish someone had both and could post some comparison pics. I'm tempted to buy one myself. In another thread, a younger Asian man posted pics of him wearing one and it looked like a perfect fit for him. I'm 6'2" 220ish with a 23-1/2" head and I'm betting it wouldn't look right on me. They do look really nice, though.

It's always good to provide some inspiration. The RPF has sent a lot my way over the years. :cool

I'm sure I'm quite late but is there any chance at buying one of these helmets preferably boba or Rens off of any of you for a reasonable price just as is no nothing special required I know it's a long shot but please let me know
