Anyone have Kays pistol from MIB?

Coz

Basically, I'm looking to do a small, cheap display of MIB (first movie) props - the Cricket I can get in resin, and there's a toy version of the Neuraliser that could work with a little tinkering (anyone have this, by the way?).

But I'd really like Kays' gun - the pistol he uses to blast Jeebs' head off.

I've seen pics via google, but actual info seems scarce - unless someone can point me in the right direction.

If you could post pics and any size info would be really cool tho.

Mucho thanks.

I heard someone will be making a licensed version of this, molded off the original with lights and sound.

And other MIB stuff.

Not sure of the company.

I just heard is all. :p

Tease. I guess they forgot to flash the neuralyzer on you after you "heard" all this. ;) Any idea of a timeframe?

With size info in hand, what then is your plan...?

Well, I was gonna try to build up a replica, maybe using an airsoft pistol for the base gun, with found parts (I think the barrel tip could be worked up from a cheap juicer, if only for the basic shape. Or one of those refrigerator freshener eggs.

If I have a size estimate, I can print out a suitable pic to that scale and have a better idea what kind of gun to look for - tho at the moment, I think it may be based on a PPK (I can see a prop guy coming up with that idea - "hey, he's a pro secret agent guy, lets give him a spy type gun.").

The pin holding the front of the trigger guard is not a PPK trait, tho...

Interesting info, Steve. :)

I dunno know the original model pistol either, but check out a Drew Barrmore flick called Homefries... Jake Busey carries a pistol that looks a LOT like it.

I don't know about any one else but I'm excited. :lol

I'll check out the movie. I'm pretty sure its some kind of PPK clone.

Just looking for the basics - overall length (butt to tip) height (bottom of butt to 'scope rail').

Thanks man.

If you could post pics, that would be really great of you.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure the gun is 11 inches long, it's pretty big. Anyways here's some pics, sorry Im not home or id post some factual info for you.

Bobadebt...I am SO sorry.

Can you ever forgive me?

Here...

I will make it up to everyone for my indiscretion...

I have the master pattern right here.

The gun is 11.75 inches long by 5.625 high by 1.75 diameter at the barrel.

The original prop was made by Rick Gamez.

The original was completely custom made, not based on any actual gun. It is cast in aluminum with a few machined metal details. The aluminum castings were polished...NOT chrome plated. (everyone gets that wrong). The hero had flash paper in the nozzle that ignited with an electric primer. The two LEDs on the side and one LED in the upper sight light up when the rear lever switch is depressed. The grips are custom-made and cast in black resin.

It is powered by one 9V battery in the handle. The bottom plate pivots down when you remove the button head screw.

There. I have done my community service. :D

We cool?

Not everyone....

I never thought chrome plating was correct on this prop. I even thought it may have been merely painted with a highly reflective paint like Alclad. But chrome on the set would have been WAY too "hot", visually, photographically...

I have always collected the best pieces, when another comes out, I sell it away for the licensed piece, knowing its going to be the more accurate quality piece. The only problem before hand is you can put alot of money and work into a piece that will be almost impossible to get your money out of later. So its up to the modeler. There are definately times I did not want to wait for the licensed piece to come out. Now that I have has so much in the collection and had to sell to pay bills at times, my patience is much higher.

PS, as to the hijack note, I would rather know going into some thing like this that it may make sense to wait on such a project. Having the choice instead of the surprise is much better in my view.

Yeah, like that. Only, you know, less well made. :)

Sporak - thanks for the pics. Those're great.

Hey, anyone else think that magazine buttplate looks a lot like Mals Firefly pistol mag detail?
