Anyone getting Homefront?

I just heard about a new game being released today called Homefront. I'm a huge FPS guy, so this game sounds like it's right up my alley, except for the reviews. I googled it, and the reviews are only so-so. I can't plop down $50 for a crappy game.

Has anyone played this yet? Any recommendations?

It looks good. It's by the guy who wrote Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn so story wise you know it will be good. I'm holding off though. I'm tired of spending 50.00 on games when in 6 months i can get them used for half that. I'd like to see some folks on here review it as i trust the online site's opinions as much as robert eberts.

If it's rated really good I might try it. The story sounds completely ridiculous to me vs. Red Dawn. Russia had the capability to attack the U.S., but the Korea's together have no chance. I also don't know why S. Korea would just turn on NATO.

One of the guys that worked on the game is a member here. I'm going to get it. I'm a FPS guy and the story seems cool it's a game they don't have to make complete sense... Just be fun.

It might make more sense once you get into it too. Too bad we don't have more game company guys on here, it would be cool to have easier access to design stuff.

I just read the review on 1up. The single person campaign was described as being short, heavily scripted, and buggy. Multiplayer fared much better.

Homefront Review for PS3, 360 from 1UP.com

That said, I'm very interested in the concept, but with Crysis 2, Lego Clone Wars, and Portal 2 already on pre-order and about to hit the doorstep, I'm tapped. :(

Overall the game blows. I was thoroughly dissapointed.

MP is better than campaign but the bugs are numerous. If your a CoD or Battlefield fan, your going to laugh at the attempt they made with Homefront.

The graphics are mediocre at best. The controls aren't too bad but not as fluid as CoD or BF.
It has potential on multiplayer if they can release a killer patch to fix all the issues.

One glaring issue I noticed last night was sniping. The game uses bullet drop which is great, I think all FPS should. If you snipe a guy across the map you have to adjust your aim according to distance. But what they didn't account for is pistol sniping. You can set your .45 iron sites on a guy on the other side of the map, squeeze off two rounds and he's dead. Can't tell you how many times I got killed last night by a sniper using a pistol.

Also, don't expect your buddies to be on the same team as you or even make it into the same game. Out of 15-20 attempts, my brother and I got into the same game twice...same team once.

Im actually enjoying it. I don't play FPS that much but the storyline and urban combat is drawing me in.

Bottom line is toys r u and others have great deals on it.

I got it for $59.99 with a free $15 gift card and $20 guide for free at TRU. When ive finished it Ill put it on ebay and get most of my money back...its what I always do.

I guess I had few expectations going in but too me its a 7-8 out of 10...and Im enjoying playing it now...not in 2-3 months when its cheaper. Might be dead then..lol. Or oil might be $8.75 a gallon like england.

I was debating on picking it up this weekend, after reading reviews I think I'll pass. Doesn't sound very appealing at all.

Not to derail the thread, but bullet drop annoys me in games. I like the realism part of it, but if you're going to add bullet drop to sniping, give us the ability to adjust your scope like you would in the real world. You could snipe at long distances in Battlefield 2, but you'd have to walk your fire onto someone by aiming about an inch above their head.

Wow the company's stock actually took a major hit today as the game gets mediocre reviews. On another game related note some morons are spreading rumors online that NASA somehow got EA to cancel any future Dead space projects (EA might have done it itself by announcing DS3 will be like Resident evil 5).
I'm still probably going to get Homefront once it's out for a while. Even a bad FPS is still entertaining.
