Anyone Familiar With this Vader ROTS helmet???

So, everyone says MR recast. But the problem with that is that is doesn't have the MR mounting system. Instead the top of the helmet looks like the screen used helmet. So I actually doubt that it is from a production made MR. I actually think it came from something out of the MR factory, before they developed the final model.

costumebase base is well known in rebel legion uk circles IIRC
the guy is called S Poon - stand up guy - sells budget stuff, albeit not that accurate.
most of his stuff usually need modifyin up eg soft parts for several diff. SW themed items.

fast shippin. easy to deal with.

not really into the Vaders, - but had a mate order their ROTS clone, whihc was a MR recast. there was a small crack on the lid on arrival in UK - promptly agreed to replace or return some of the cash due to damaged goods.

as for where his supply is from - well, lots of the MR stuff gets made out there, cant see it as too much of a leap to see if they got hands on pre-productions, seconds or rejects to play with?

That helmet recast has been around for at least a year. Some people think it is open season to recast as soon as the damned goodies come out.

actually ignore what I said - the helmet I thought was the same one isnt on closer inspection...

Another one of those Grey Areas. The CKING Helmet is a Don Post recast but it was viewed as acceptable because Don Post no longer has the license or produces them. Same with MR. MR is no longer a Star Wars licensee and teh CKing helmet was produced before Rubies did their run.

I'm pretty sure he said himself it's an MR recast, guess it's open season on MR now then :thumbsdown

I get that but it's a bit soon ain't it, just did a quick search found 6 brand new MR Vader helmets for sale on eBay bet the DP delux wasn't that easy to find back then.
I'd hate to be those people trying to move their stock when someones selling recasts so cheap.

I have one of these. I'm almost inclined to think it may be an MR reject. Regarding the difference with the helmet mount, I think it's just lacking a plug that mates between helmet and dome, I assume this must be a separate piece on the finished MR that is glued into the helmet mounts "stem". The dome will sit on the helmet at a fairly precarious angle and will come off at the slightest touch so would need some work done to sit/secure properly.

The dome is smooth on the entire inside also, as is the MR.

The rear neck piece isn't the flushest of fits, from what I've seen of the MR this seems to be the case also.

The paint work is what may need a closer look. A large section of paint inside the Dome came easily away having bubbled, though it is hidden when the dome is on the helmet (I will repaint anyway).
The gloss finish will show off the smallest of paint blemishes, and it does in two or three areas that can't be ignored.

I'm working mine into a reveal and have stripped it of paint and heavily reworked the helmet. I recall seeing a member on TDH who had stripped his MR Fett and I'm sure the "make-up" was remarkably similar between the Fett and this particular Vader, with regards to fiberglass/resin colour and composition.

There's no maybe about it, it is a recast, someone asked him i just can't remember who but he said himself it was a copy of the MR.

Well to be honest, i don't really care that it's a recast, i just really wanted to know if it's a decent quality recast!!!! The pics of the helmet look awesome, but i'm going to be in a bit of a quandry as to where to find accurate grille mesh and lenses.....

Oh c'mon......don't be like that....it's not like MR has the license anymore, and it's never going to be as good as the genuine article, which can't be bought new anymore....so i'd have to fork out loads-a-money for it....besides....having done a competent SgtFang ANH, i'm really looking forward to doing this Singapore guys ROTS as a kit of sorts.....

Judge not lest ye be judged.....

Yes it can be bought new look a few posts back when i posted there were 6 brand new in box MR ROTS Vader helmets on eBay alone.
I get the arguement they don't have the license anymore and all that but comments like "Well to be honest, i don't really care that it's a recast" hit a nerve, sorry but that's me.
