Anyone dealt with: Federation Models??

I bought one model kit from them about two years ago. It was a simple, fast transaction. I won't hesitate to buy from them again if I can ever find to time to build kits again :cry

Make sure you ask them if the model you are buying is early in the
casts. I bought one from them that was obviously pulled way past the
the molds prime. My guess is they use there molds far too long.

I bought an ID4 alien troop transport ship. Pretty nice and good service.

Haven't heard anything bad about them, except their prices are a bit high, for such small kits, imo.

I sell my templates thru their store on a regular basis.
I can tell you they are good guys to do business with.
I don't know what your product is, but are they wanting your original to make a one time resale, or do you think they are interested in casting up copies? Tracy makes come wonderful castings, his quality is top-notch, but you might be losing out if you don't work out some sort of "per copy price"

More great advice. Good to hear about their quality.

They approached me about selling one of my items on a % per unit sold. Im concerned about knowing truely how many items they sell and keeping track of those items.

They have stated that they would do a contract etc. but not having dealt with them I was curious to see who may have.

If he makes wonderful castings I wonder why the Steamrunner I got from him was so poor? I really wanted that ship too, but I could not do
anything with it. Maybe I just got a bad one. I have heard good things
about them in past. But I do agree they do charge too much.

Not all of the products sold at FedMod are made by FedMod. He does sell other's stuff, just like any other on-line hobby shop. So, the ship you got was probably not made at FedMod, just sold by FedMod.

They are pricey,other than that their service was "good".Their choice of casting resins though is questionable.I bought the large KBOP and the resin absoloutely SUCKS.It is the worst S&*^$@$ I think I've ever encountered in a model kit and the kit has heaps of clean up.More than one would expect for $300.00.There are lots of bubbles,voids,weak spots/points on major supports of the castings not to mention lots of raised spots which I can only guess are the result of a burned out mold.

That kit was produced by Warp Modekls in the UK, not Federation Models. Warp Models had this not-so-good-casting and they used a resin that would perfume your apartment for free.

I got that same kit from Comet and returned it back, what a poor model for such a big size.

since I do my own production, I don't have the same sitch as you do. Do you think it would be worth it to you to ask for a bigger chunk up front and just do an out right sale of the design?

You run the risk of losing out if its a big seller, but if it is, They may want to expand the product line and you could make up for it on the next piece.
