Anybody do casting and mold making

Yes, I have used Freeman Supply. They are pricey, but they have good stuff.

What do you want to make?

I want to cast this small lens (if I could find any I would not have to cast them) I'm looking to cast several in clear red and several in clear green.

Freeman said that it could be done with their products but they suggest I get a pressure pot. Ive never done this and am a little reluctant to experiment on stuff and waste $$ on a learning curve.

I would cast the entire thing and paint on the silver part leaving the red or green clear behind.

What do you think?

Do you need that exact model or would a very similar light work?

If so check out these auctions, yeah it's technically against the rules to post live auctions but these are Buy it now auctions that are constantly listed...

Green

Red

And if you need exact ones, just watch ebay with the search "jewel pilot light" or "jewel panel light" and you will probably find some...

As for casting to get good quality clear bubble free castings you will need a pressure pot, and IMO clear castings are not the best thing to attempt for your first venture into casting... They are a pain to get good consistant pulls...

Yes I need an exact replacement and I have been coming up dry on "The Bay" I have seen similar ones that are used as guitar amp power lights but the ones I need are rather low profile in comparison. (The visible chrome ring is rather small) Perhaps I can find someone interested in making a dozen or so, until then Ill keep searching "the bay."
