I went to Pep Boys tonight looking for epoxy based fiberglass resin and all they had was polyester based (crap). I got epoxy based there years ago, so I'm not sure why they don't carry it.... probably the same reason they don't sell plasti-cote products any more:unsure

Does anyone know of any national retailers that would be an easy source for it? Any of the craft stores.. ie. Micheals, ACMoore ?

I want to strengthen the inside of my Snowtrooper styrene armor with a single or double layer and don't want to slather that polyester crap in there.

Thanks a bunch!

West System Epoxy has a dealer locator by zip or phone area code. As far as places to check: Boat shops/repair places, Aircraft/Ultralight plane supply places, Autobody supply shops (if you have a local body shop that does alot of fiberglass work ask them if they use epoxy and where they get it especially if they do alot of 'vette repair work), and Radio Control plane/car shops (local place did for awhile for repair work but quit after never selling a lot of it). Only other place I can think of is if you have a Rockler woodworker supply place near you... the one local to me carries West and another company's epoxy resin products.

I did a google last night and he came up as the second hit... :D I bookmarked it in case I can't get it locally. There's a marine store close to my house so I'll check there...if no joy, I'll use jgreer :)

www.jgreer.com is a great place to deal with, so don't have nay hesitation if you need to mail order it from him...

Try any boating store or Tap plastics. The polyester stuff stinks (fumes) and is best for laminating only and not bonding to other materials. Epoxy is stronger as well I am sure.
