Any Real Firearm Prop Collectors here?

I'm starting to get into the real firearm prop collecting. I recently got a Russian Nagant, Swiss K39 and a Lee Enfield .303. I love Enemy at the Gate and WWI/WWII movies and want some more. Just curious where others buy from (other than gun shows, pawn shops, and such).

I have real live fire and blank fire firearms used in films. In my research to find more of those, I've come across countless non film-related gun auctions and stuff. I find some of the antique pieces to be quite remarkable, and have been tempted to pick something up, but I think I'm too poor to have more than one collectibles hobby.

Little John's Auction Service is the company that held the big Stembridge Collection event, and they have regular auctions of other firearms.

Gun Broker is like eBay for firearms.

If you Google "firearm" and "auction", there always seems to be an auction of some sort coming up.

Also, you can search my blog for "firearm", "Stembridge", and some other terms and find some articles.

The Internet Movie Firearm Database is also a good resource to see what kinds of firearms were used in which films.

My own collection can be seen HERE - lots of firearms mixed in.

Yeah mean like these?

Surely the panzerfaust isn't active. :confused
Where'd you get that anyway? That'd be fun to play with. :lol

Yeah, got just a few: SKS, M1 Carbine, MAK 90 (in AK furniture) and Colt Sporter (in M16A2 furniture). I also have in black powder a variety of pistols as seen in Revolutionary War movies and a Thompson Hawkin that I built that is as seen in movies about mountain men. Sorry that I don't have any pics.

I bought my modern fire arms at the usual places (gun shows, dealer) but all my black powder fire arms were bought as kits in the late 70's at general merchandise stores similar to Tru Value/Ace Hardware.

Look up any local gun shops in your area, this is where I have bought most of mine. Nearly all of my pieces, with the exception of a pair of Ruger .22's, are all in one film, show, or another.

Gunbroker is a good source, but cross-check pricing with some of the online vendors. Joining a discussion board that is either generic to guns in general, or specific to a brand (I'm on Sigforum more than any other board of any kind), and ask around for advice and check the classifieds for second-hand pieces or direct sales from vendors. Just don't mention that you are looking specifically for props, becuase you may not get as much respect from some of the more hard-core collectors/gunnys.

Here is a recent pic of just my Sigs after I picked up the 556 a few weeks ago.

Gun collecting and movie props are a good mix as so often they turn up in a differant form eg the Sterling SMG becomes an E11 in Star Wars. I live in the UK so unlike you lucky guys across the pond most of my guns are deactivated but that is better than nothing. I am lucky to have a nice collection of deactivated real guns including

1928 Thompson
M1 Thompson
Garand
2 M1 carbines
Mosin Nagant
4 Lee Enfields of varios marks
4 mausers of varios types
MP40 smg
Sterling smg
Sten Mk 2
Sten mk5
Luger
Colt 1911 A1
C96 mauser
3 AKs of varios types
.455 Webley
.38 webley
M16 A1
MG42
Bren gun
Lanchester SMG
Martini Henry rifle
PPSH smg
P38
PPK
BAR
.30 browning

When I cannot afford a real steel one I get the best replicas that I can find. Good luck with your collecting.

Very nice collection.

Here is a pic of some of my collection. My favorite is the fully restored Miltech Arms M1 Garand.

Of specific movie note is the Remington 700BDL 7mm Magnum (5th from the bottom) this is the same model rifle that was used by De Niro in "The Deer Hunter".

Nice collection you have there!! I LOVE that M1 Garand!! That is top of my list, and an M1 Carbine .30 and the German K98.

I love your "real" MP40 Mlarson007. Just awesome!!

Here is one of mine. It's an ASP 9mm. James Bond's gun from the John Gardener novels. It was a real world operatives gun made by Paris Theodore from a Smith and Wesson M 39-2. With it's teflon-s coating, de-horned frame, and see through lexan grips, it's truely bad a$$. These pictures were originally posted over at Absolutely James Bond under my screen name Donald Grant. Shown here with original manual, James Bonds Goldfinger holster and Magnoli passports.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to fire it yet due to the to crappy weather and bitter cold (it's -5 degrees right now in S. Wis.)

I have a friend of mine who was with the NATO forces in Somalia during the 90's and who has shot and extensively used the original Swiss Arms 55x series rifles. He handle this one and was impressed, saying that they improved on a few features of the originals.

I did research for about a year, debating the 556 and the various brands of AR-15's. I decided on the Sig after having fired a full-auto Colt with one of the local SWAT teams and having it jam repeatedly. I wanted to got with the piston system, rather than the gas impingement system. It was more expensive, but I think it will be worth it in the long run for reliability and ease of use during training.

If people here are interested, I'll take a pic of my collection of movie guns and post it. In addition to the three Sigs, I've got a Walther P99 Titantium (wife's), S&W M29, Beretta 92fs, Colt 1991A1, and an American made MP5 clone.

lol, i hear ya about the weather, i'm in Western wi. I was looking at a 556 in the Twin Cities. The thought of a 10+ lbs m1a +EBR stock had me thinking about scrapping my socom purchase and having the 556 transferred to the WI branch of Outdoors wherehouse (sp?).

you going to replace the plastic handguard with a RIS?

I've heard the stock won't hold up to a drop, do you think that is true?

anyway, love to see your pics, is your mp5 clone a vector?
