Any advice on Poet Anderson's Pistol from The Dream Walker

Hello I'm currently in the sketching out process of Poet Anderson's pistol from the movie Poet Anderson: The Dream Walker. I was looking at Nerf guns to modify so the trigger would be functional but I can't find any models that match the pistol grip. Any ideas on how to keep it functional and maintain the look?

These are screen grabs from the movie which are all that I've been able to obtain. I've messaged the animation company and the concept artist but only the concept artist has replied stating that he didn't design the pistol and did not have any information on it.
