I am looking for an accurate Noisy Cricket from MIB. Has anyone made one? I know FE is making one but that is a MIB 2 as is the Unobtainium. Nicks dad made one but that seems to be a MIB 1 grip with a MIB 2 barrel. Only one I have seen so far is the Icons but that is rare as hens teeth. Am I missing any others?

TIA

Thanks Pat, ya i am not going to be happy unless it's metal. I guess i'll have to settle for the MIIB version when FE releases it. The chrome is going to bug me so i'll have to rip it apart and sand and polish it. Kinda like i am doing with their LE J2. I like Nicksdads but it is a mix of versions and that ain't going to work for me. Someone needs to make a proper MIB 1 metal cricket. Thanks for the headsup on the kit.

Yeah I've actually wanted the first movie gun a long time, but unfortunately the replica companies seem a lot more keen on producing MIB2 props than the first movie's. I'd guess its due to the accessibility to the original props but who knows.

the MiB Noisy Cricket was a smaller diameter barrel than the MiiB Cricket.
Icons was a vacuum metal plate and it was thick enough to give it a bit of heft. The Icons piece was molded of the original movie piece but suffered from shrinkage which was also unequal over the entire piece. The front end suffered more giving it a almost pointed look. Still, at the time, it was the only game in town and was coveted by collectors. But in the end, it was a rough looking replica.
Most resin pieces i have seen of the MiB cricket are reworked off the Icons piece and are not much better. Being a metal chrome fan of MiB replicas, the resin pieces just did not rank much higher than the cheap plastic guns you could find made in China. So generally, the best noisy Crickets to this date ore the MiiB metal replicas, made by Unobtanium, Nicksdad and now FE.

The only run of crickets I ever did was the first movie version. It had a smaller barrel and all the other parts were different from the second movie. You may be confusing my old run with a kit that sold recently that had my old grip parts but had a replacement MIIB barrel. When I did my old run I used casting reference from a supposed original that I believe originated from the Icons boys.
The MIIB kits that I had were old parts from the defunct Unobtainium run that were never assembled before they closed their doors.

Thanks for the info Tripoli. I'll just get the FE and hope at some point someone makes a MIB 1 version. There are some good shots of the 1st version on Rick Gs site from when he made them. Between that and the known dimensions of the MIB 2 version it shouldn't be too hard to scale them out.

Ah that explains it then, yes I saw that kit and noticed the barrel vents were in the MIIB place so I assumed, incorrectly , that is what it was like for all of them. Thanks for clearing that up. Any pics you can share?

Sure, this is a pic of one of my old crickets. Note all the differences to the second movie version.
