Anovos Stormtrooper.... thoughts?

slowly but surely... a few cuts later and a few more parts started..

what is considered the best build video for this? curious on how these things get attached...instructions are one thing, but actually seeing it done is another

has anyone else seen this? am I reading it wrong or are they saying that they are including bubble lens now as extras with kit only or with the full assembly helmet as well?

If for the assembled helmet as well then that would not make sense as of course the hero helmet as different teeth and number of screws on the ears thus making the bubble lens pretty much useless unless making some modifications to the helmet.

But if for the kit then it looks like now people are given the option to make a hero helmet which is cool but then again kinda disappoints a lot of the customer who bought one already assembled as I am sure many of them would have preferred a hero helmet.

*Original Trilogy Stormtrooper Helmet Accessory: Packaging complete for finished helmets, pending final approval. Kit version packaging in process and pending digital instructions. Faceplate will require decals and trimming of eyes and teeth unlike helmet supplied with full kit. Individual gray bubble lenses and flat green lens strip included, plus 5-pad fitting system vs hardhat liner. Current estimated delivery: Q2 2016

Not clear what exactly you're getting there. Perhaps a full new faceplate? You'd need a completely different one without COMPLETELY resculpting the frown. It takes more than bubble lenses and decals to change the existing bucket over to to a Hero helmet. Needs new ears, too, IIRC, since don't the Hero buckets only have 3 bumps?

TK 1636's original video series is awesome, but I'm not completely sold on his Anovos series. For best results, I would watch the original video series (different kit, same basic construction techniques, and MUCH more thorough than his Anovos series).

I'd also use E6000 instead of CA glue and zip kicker, unless you're an armor building pro.

The definitive build thread for the Anovos armor is Ukswrath's thread. Built to Centurion standards for the 501st, much more accurate than the Anovos instructions (which are garbage if you want to build for 501st approval). http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-ukswraths-anovos-tk-build/

It better not come before my full ensemble, lol!! 12 months and counting, since I ordered at SW Celebration, last year...

Same here. It seems like the "Completed Ensemble" mention is always an afterthought on the updates. It should be a separate listing. Y'know, considering what we paid for it and all.

Exactly!! And here I thought I was gonna be a real smart guy and save soooo much time by just having the whole thing finished at the factory...sheesh...I found, fabricated and finished every piece of a complete, screen-accurate Jango Fett way back for EP II premiere in half the time that it's taken them to ship one single completed ensemble...not that I'm complaining or anything, lol...

Following some comments on the Anovos Facebook page, there have been customers who ordered a TK armor set this past February get their packaged delivered before people who have been waiting since mid-2015.

Their priority list is all whacked up.

Yeah I ordered in mid March and it came a week later. Guess I just got lucky!

No. Their packing and shipping facility handled the batches per region.

US was first. I have seen people who ordered before and way after me getting their stuff before me, all over the US.

People in the US who order kits now (better get them soon, they're almost all gone!) have the advantage of the shipment coming from existing stock that's already manufactured, packed up, and delivered to the US from China. It's currently sitting in a warehouse somwhere in SoCal. Some have ordered and gotten them within a week! Compare that to those who pre-ordered, who had to wait for the design to be finalized, Disney Legal to sign off, China to manufacture it and ship it to the US on a slow boat, and THEN they shipped them out, a process which took nearly a year.

I believe the bubble lenses only come with the helmet kit.

They must feel some people want the bubble lenses even though the result would not meet 501st standards for stunt or hero without further modification. Anovos isn't always concerned with meeting 501st standards. Some customers aren't either. Feel free to make the helmet the way you want. Meeting 501st standards isn't always the ultimate goal.

But if that is true then what about the teeth? People expect the kit to be straight foward but the kit will still come with the stunt teeth thus people will have to figure out how to modify it neatly to only 3 teeth for hero if they want to pop in the bubble lens

If you are going for a 501st approved hero helmet, you are correct that more modifications are needed to the helmet including the teeth.

Some people may want stunt teeth and bubble lenses. That won't be 501st approved, but those people may not care about that. Many people don't like the hero frown, but they may prefer the bubble lenses. Depending on how you attach the lenses, you could make it so either can be installed.

Everyone needs to decide what is important to them, getting 501st approval or making the helmet the way they want it to be. There isn't anything wrong with making your own decisions and being creative. 501st standards are not necessarily the best for everyone or every helmet.

Even among 501st standards, some people feel the higher standards mean better. I would say the higher standards are more screen accurate, but that may not actually look better to everyone. An example is the hand painted stripes. That may be how the actual props were built, but I think that looks silly on armor issued by the empire. The props were like that because it was the quickest/cheapest way to do it and they didn't think it would be noticeable on screen. Some people want every bump and flaw from the original suits. Others prefer them to look like what they remember seeing which was a more clean, impersonal look.

So...anybody got their complete ensemble version, yet? If so, how is it? Kinda wishing I had bought a kit along with the full deal so I could compare the build quality...and at least I'd have something at this point, lol...

Too much velcro with the assembled kit/full emsemble, and I know velcro is great, and I know it was used by NASA in the space program, but it's not going to hold up with the amount of trooping I'm planning. I'm building another ANOVOS TK and will scrap the webbing and just use 90% snaps. However, for a velcro system, it is holding up much better than I expected, I just think I'll like snaps much better overall.
Extremely impressed with these suits though. I can clearly see where they cleaned things up, but overall, I love it.
