I was wondering why Jose was not answering my last 3 PMs to him in as many days.

:lol Jose WORK FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol

Disapointed that the Red Tunics will be the first offered, :(

The Deltas look beautiful though looks like the old stock from Lincoln enterprises that were sold back in the 70's ;)

Any indication of price yet?

Also... has anyone ever actually bought one of their costumes? I just have never actually seen anything for sale on their site.

Yeah... I'd definitely be waiting on the gold anyway.

Maybe I'll be interested in a Command tunic, depending on the price. I'd like to see if they offer boots - those I would probably be more interested in. I recall it was hinted that they would offer boots that were authentic, and supposedly for a reasonable price.

As of when?? I find their "updates" confusing as all hell.

Their blog and their Facebook page and their website all contradict each other.

When? When will they be taking orders, and when are they actually going to be released?

Any indication of price yet?

Well according to a story published on Star Trek.com and reprinted on Anovos' blog...

"The TOS Red Shirt is priced at $275, while the TOS Blue Dress retails for $325."

The whole story (which includes the recently offered Sciences tunic and Enginering dress from STAR TREK:The New Universe) can be read here...

$275.00-$290.00? For a replica shirt? Wow.
Is there a particular reason that they cost that much?
Is it just simply a case of Supply and Demand?

I was expecting it to be a little lower, due to the lack of printing that has to be done on the fabric. It's pretty close to the same price as the Trek '09 top... now if they did pants with it for that price, I'd be a bit more stoked.

Actually if you hunt around on some of the boards that cater to custom Star Trek tunic and uniform recreation, that's in the ballpark.

Your dealing with very difficult fabric and color matching recreations of materials originaly made in the early 1960's. For instance the fabrics Anovos is using for the third season TOS tunics and dresses were custom manufactured using samples of the original fabrics that CBS/Paramound had in storage. This isn't something matched and purchased from existing stock, this is newly manufactured fabric made just for this company. Then there's the insignias. No fan made insignia looks that close to the original. Look at the gold mylar crinkle. People over at the Starfleet 1701st board have been trying to make that stuff for years with no success in finding the right backing materal. Anovos had it made. I have only one insignia on a tunic that looks that good and you know who made it? James Cawley using the right material, and using William Ware Theiss' original dies. And if Anovos' stuff can come that close, well, $275 is worth it.

John

p.s. After all of that concider that CBS/Paramount want their cut as well, so you can imagine...

p.p.s. Remember, a TOS tunic would cost you $200 at Shadowdale Creations, and you'd never get it. ;)

I'm not an expert on Star Trek (I'm a Star Wars guy), but the quality and accuracy does look top-notch, I wasn't questioning that at all, just the price.
After your explanation of all the work involved, I can see that price being a bit more justified, plus I imagine that they need to recoup their up-front costs as well.

It's cool. Star Trek costumes are reallly difficult, with far more involved than most think. Just getting the spring weave collar to lay right with the hidden zipper installed, drives most people nuts.

For a Licensed product that's cheap.

Trek Tunics custom fit for you in Authentic or close to authentic Nylon dyed correctly with delta and braid usually go in the ball-park of $300.00 to $350.00.

They look easy but they are not.

All sorts of tricks go on to make them look good even if you HAVE the patteren

If they are using the dye house that did them for the show they charge and I mean they CHARGE for the dye process.

Tunic AND pants for $ 275.00 they would go broke.
