ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

I asked for an update from Denuo Novo on mt orders, and they sent me the following:

Coming in early 2022:

Is there any way in hell we can actually order this?

I’d like one, but…c’mon!

Don’t wanna wait 3 years and possible lose my money :(

Several of us have received an email from Denuo Novo asking us to confirm our address because we had a preorder for this helmet with Anovos. I would recommend anyone uncomfortable with placing a preorder wait until there are some posts with photos of the helmet that people have received. This will let you see if you like the helmet that was delivered or not. If there are no posts with photos that appear similar to the helmet I receive, I will post photos.

I would think Denuo Novo will eventually have these in stock. I placed an order for two other helmets they had in stock on November 28th. I received the helmets on December 4th. They don't send an email when they ship the item. I knew when to expect them because I get notifications from UPS.

Denuo Novo has been good about delivering so far. I am not aware of anyone with an long outstanding order for an item they have started delivering.

I find the idea that XCoser are in any way involved really bizarre. They're knock-offs, not even decent toy replicas (never mind high end replicas)

I bought Revan masks from them, because even though I wasn't expecting anything amazing, they looked okay in the pictures. One for my brother as he was a KotOR fan and one for myself. I shouldn't have bothered. They were so flimsy and bendable that one was completely bent out of shape. The other one was in okay condition, but was child's toy quality, so that's where that went. They're the kind of thing where you might only buy if you had to lead a kid's Halloween troop and needed just anything at all because it was short notice. But you'd never have any intention of keeping it as a serious prop. Since they shipped from China I didn't even think it was worth the effort trying to send them back and get a refund. Eventually got myself a Revan mask from Props Foundry and was much happier.

Surely not even Anovos would have anything to do with those guys...

Didn't people say the same thing about Rubies/Neca? The Denuo Novo items are at a different level than the majority of Rubies/Neca products.

Well I am in for that First Order Stormtrooper armor. I wonder is they are simply going to rerelease the Kylo helmet or if it will be the TROS one.

Thing is, even Rubies is all over the place. On the one hand, they have the crappy, underscaled, don't-leave-it-in-a-hot-car vinyl masks that can almost never be spruced up to anything resembling wearable. On the other, they have surprising gems like the two-piece hard-plastic Jango helmet that, apart from a couple minor fixes for folks like us, is really damn close to the movie prop. And then on the third hand, they had the Supreme Edition lined fiberglass helmets like this one:

That I'm still impressed by, for all that they made the same concessions for wearability as everyone but Don Post -- and theirs suffered from shrinkage from taking a mould off the original:

Never sat level on my shoulders, and the visor rode too high compared to the originals. It was no more than 10%-15% shrinkage, but that was enough.

Ditto their blasters. For every underscaled or woefully oversimplified travesty, they put out things like Leia's blaster or the recent Mandalorian sidearm blaster that are surprisingly good starting points for building a replica. Point is, Rubies' quality was all over the place. Their hard-plastic Boba helmet was the best one until the new Hasbro Black Series. Both need work, but about the same.

As for xCoser... I'm pretty sure now that they just have access to (or are a brand created by the owners of) one of the factories Anovos (and other companies?) were going through. Nothing in international law stops those factories from selling the stuff they make on eBay while holding back the shipments to the companies that ordered from them.
 
We have no idea if the Anovos items Xcoser has listed were actually made for orders Anovos made with the factory. It's also possible Anovos ordered the production but didn't make all of the payments.

If the Jango Fett description is accurate, it sounds like those were made in the last few months. This may just be the factory that Anovos used continuing to make the products and selling them through Xcoser.

I don't think these will be similar to the cheap products Xcoser sells unless they are totally lying about the materials and features in the description.

That's true that it shouldn't be too hard to make a second version with the cracks. So far Denuo Novo has only made the same products Anovos had except for the TIE Victor variant.
 
Unrelated, but worth mentioning, especially after another exciting year: Merry Christmas - to all who celebrate it.
Stay safe, have fun, relax and recharge! Let's (finally) abandon Anovos once and for all and hope for the best with DN.

I'm looking forward to another year of daily check-ins to see what kind of shenanigans are in development ;)
