Sigh :( Longtime lurker here.

Deathtrooper Specialist Helmet ordered 7/23/17

Is anyone aware of the new class action lawsuit that’s in the works? There’s chatter on the Anovos Boycott facebook page but I’m surprised no mention of it here.

Mandalorian jet pack - May 2018
$523.57 USD of which just over $160 was shipping. That's the thing that annoys me most. It's not just that they haven't made the thing I've paid for, it's that they've also charged me for not sending it.

Ah, those guys.

Things I'm still waiting on:
- SW Imperial Officer Hat Cockade Pin Accessory (order placed 09/03/20) [hat received already]
- SW Luke Skywalker Rebel Pilot Helmet Accessory (order placed 04/18/18) [I see a lot of people are waiting on this one!]
- SW Data Cylinders Accessory (order placed 05/10/17)

Things that have actually shipped to me:
- ESB Han Solo Pant Belt Accessory (order placed 09/23/20)
- SW Imperial Officer Hat (order placed 09/03/20) [minus cockade pin]
- SW Classic Flight Gloves (x2) (order placed 03/10/19)
- SW Imperial Officer Pants Accessory (order placed 11/10/18) [returned and replaced after much hassle due to sizing issues]
- SW Imperial Officer Belt and Buckle Accessory (order placed 09/21/18)
- SW Han Solo Belt Rig Set with Accessories (order placed 05/25/17) [returned and replaced successfully due to sizing issues]
- ESB Han Solo Bespin Standard Line Ensemble with Belt (order placed 12/11/16)
- SW Han Solo Droid Caller (order placed 12/11/16)
- ST:TOS Season 1-2 Pant (order placed 09/23/15)
- SW Imperial Stormtrooper Kit with Helmet (order placed 05/04/15)

So, as you can see they've actually fulfilled a number of orders for me, and I've been generally very pleased with what I've received (though returns/exchanges were generally a hassle). Granted, I've ordered a lot of smaller accessories and items that were in stock, so those were always easier for them to fulfill (mostly).

I never wanted to see Anovos fail; I met some of them in person at a couple of conventions, and I could tell they were really behind what they were doing. I'd like nothing better than to see them turn things around and finally fulfil all their outstanding orders. But they definitely bit off more than they could chew, and what started out as a novel idea turned into an unintentional Ponzi scheme, as I'm certain they were desperately trying to rob Peter to pay Paul by selling newer items they didn't have so they could pay for production of items they'd already spent the money from. They should have cut off all new production long ago and concentrated only on catching up on their outstanding ones, and it looks like they finally did (at least with SW)...but too little, too late. Their name is already in the dirt.

I'm pretty certain they never even made the Kylo Ren costumes. That whole thing they wrote about making them but screwing up the shiny crap is b.s. They made that up. Recall, that f'ing story was that they made aaallllllllll the Kylo costumes. And that they were ready to go.

And that because of the issue they claim, all of these costumes were entirely trashed and thrown out/ burned/ whatever.

Notice that the entire write up is gone from their site and has been for a while.

It is the moral obligation of anyone who used to work there to open up about what happened. Yeah, Anovos might try to sue (laughable) but it is still your moral obligation.

Looking at their current inventory, it doesn’t look good. I’d say they are inching themselves out the door.

Absolutely insane.

Orders from 2016 not being fulfilled?? A half a decade...

The owners should be in jail. Has anyone contacted their state AG? The Texas AG? I'm no lawyer but it seems to me they might be guilty of mail fraud too. Maybe contact the Post Master General? At this point they are thieves. There is no legitimate excuse.

So sad that every licensee so far has failed.

It's clear ANOVOS has violated every FTC law. They should not even be in business.

The same could be said about many companies that have preorders for collectibles. Obviously a huge difference is most companies eventually deliver, but waiting months or a year is not unusual for preorders.

But usually they adhere to their timeframe and don't pull off a delay delay delay (and the first point of the picture allows longer timeframes if both sides agree)

I've been mailordering since the 1970's and I've never experienced this kind of business practice from anyone. Back in the day it was 4 to 6 weeks max and it never went past that time frame because there are laws in place to protect consumers.

ANOVOS is a criminal operation, more so for charging shipping and not delivering.

These are all listed as expected to ship within a 3 month period well beyond 6 weeks into the future. I have way more faith that these will actually ship somewhere near that time frame, but it isn't within the next few months.

Gentle Giant sometimes lists an estimated deliver month on preorders and sometimes gives no indication.

The Anovos model was to have a long preorder period prior to putting in an order to produce the item. In my opinion the preorder periods were way too long. Even back then they frequently missed the delivery estimates, but they delivered alot of products. Many preorders placed in 2015 and 2016 were delivered in 2016 and 2017. The delay greatly depended on when each customer placed their order within the preorder window. Most of my orders in 2017 were filled in 2017. I have a few orders from 2017, all of my orders from 2018, and all but one from 2019 that still have not been filled. All of my orders from 2020 have been filled.

In the early years Anovos was much better with communicating status and eventually delivering. Both changed to be almost non existent late 2017 -2019. After changing how they operated for products produced in 2020 and producing the Royal Guard helmet which was a 2019 preorder, I was hoping they would start producing the rest of the long delayed products. Unfortunately that has not happened and we have no reason to think it will due to the complete lack of communication regarding these products. It is really odd how Anovos and efx completely ignore long overdue products while announcing and producing new products. I have had products from other companies take longer than expected, but not to the point that I no longer expect the product to ever be produced.

We're talking about YEARS, not a few months. We're talking about ignoring customers, not updating customers, not giving customers the option to cancel their order and receive a refund per FTC laws.

Big difference:

16 CFR Part 435

LAW SUMMARY:
The Rule, issued in 1975, requires sellers who solicit buyers to order merchandise through the mail, via the Internet, or by phone to have a reasonable basis to expect that the sellers can ship within the advertised time frame, or, if no time frame is specified, within 30 days. The Rule also requires that, when a seller cannot ship within the promised time, the seller must obtain the buyer’s consent to a delay in shipping or refund payment for the unshipped merchandise.

ANOVOS basically thumbs their nose at this according to posts within this thread. That puts them squarely in the criminal category and why they are still in business, taking new orders is beyond me.

I've had my say. I hope they get shut down before they steal more hard earned money.

Good luck everyone
