ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

It's kind of a mixed bag between the sloppy assembly of ANH and the crappy weathering of the SE. Part of why I have little to no interest in re-creating screen-accurate pieces. The spray-painted "weathering" on the original ROTJ Scout Troopers is terrible to look at, and this looks like a page from that book. That helmet above would probably look good on screen, taking film grain, set lighting (or California sun), and distance into consideration...

I referred to the original sandtroopers. Not the thrown together ROTJ sandtroopers. Imo the original weathering is far better.

I happy to say I received my Vader helmet today. Only 14 more items to go and we'll be straight. In all seriousness, I am still hopeful that they'll deliver everything...and even more hopeful that it all comes in 2020.

That is very bad weathering and assembly!

Look at that right hand ear cup!

Yep, the ear doesn't bother me as all original stormtroopers were haphazardly put together but the paint is just bad, it all looks black and shoved in every corner. Don't see any browns at all. Not quite what they said...

"Knowing just the colors wasn’t enough. What we found was a very intricate, deliberate pattern of heavy weathering using dark, cool paint colors. There was almost nothing "haphazard" about the weathering technique on the helmets. In fact, instead of the conventional “spray and fade” method, there was a mixture of manual, darker paint washes and stippling to create the pattern of weathering. With our helmets, we opted for this method of manual, individualized weathering to capture this technique, rather than a mass volume spray. Though this technique does take longer to execute, we felt strongly that it was the final touch in making the paint job as close in spirit to the original helmets seen on the set.
As a result, each individual helmet has its own unique weathering pattern, and thus no two helmets are exactly alike… a fingerprint with its own unique and distinct hallmarks, if you will."

So far every Anovos Sandtrooper helmet I have seen looks identical especially the dome, so much for "no two helmets are exactly alike".

I may try and see what I can remove to make it less production looking.

Just happy I sort of got what I paid for.

. To minimize further delays, we are transferring many of our overseas product-lines to our manufacturing facility in Texas. This will help mitigate the substantial delay...

not as believable as the last time they posted this claim, but definitely more believable than the time before that. Still, nothing beats the time before that one, but we were all a lot younger then, and more full of hope.

Ha - I didn't even get the Anovos email. But just like clockwork... a chance to write, to give us any kind of an update but no, it is about what we are all already dealing with and what is going on.

No doubt without COVID all of our orders would be fulfilled by tomorrow, right?

Just like clockwork...

weathering on actual film vs digital media and then in person can look completely different for numerous reasons, lighting, post production, reflections... Age, on set use, storage... all play factors. These two photos were taken very closely together, the black and white is real hand developed 35mm film, the other was digital with color enhancements for a magazine shoot.

At it again, and couldn't choose a better time to rub it in the faces of the ones waiting years for products. Sorry for the ones who get suckered into these ads.

Keep safe everyone!

The ears look correct in this pic. Why did they all end up with that strange gap at the top? (Or is it possibly still wrong but the angle of the pic makes it look right)

Also, still trying to find the location in Texas of their facility. Any clues would be most helpful!

Q1 - January, February, March

Never tell me the odds
Friends, Q1 has officially ended !
Happy Q2 to everyone :)
...

Sadly this is not the first Q2 we have to live.
I think this will be my third or fourth since I ordered (and surprisingly I didn’t received the previously mentioned « update » email too).

Let’s take stock for a minute.

Out of the 28 items promised for Q1, how many did actually shipped ?
Well, unless I am mistaken, I counted... 3.
Yes. 3 small items, out of 28.
ATAT helmets, Kylon Ren helmets and Han Solo jackets from TFA (and furthermore, not in large quantities).

I sent an email a few weeks ago, asking for an update because over all, I want f_a_c_t_s about the products.

« COVID19 is causing issues ».
This is how their answer started. Yes, for an order made years ago, this is their answer...

Today I see the communication around The Mandalorian helmet and I am -again- really disappointed (strange they didn’t pointed out the quality issues like the ears indeed).

How dare they advertise this when they give us no updates about all the other 60 items waiting ? Furthermore while a new Quarter begins with nothing new and no general update... crazy.

I will contact Disney again.

Stay safe RPF.

Over the weekend I got the email ad that the Mandalorian helmets were in stock and shipping.
Monday I did another general inquiry about where my stuff is (Kylo premiere, Rey staff, Luke helmet, Luke belt, etc. Roughly $4500 worth). I asked about the possibility of cancelling some of the orders to exchange for the Mandalorian helmet.
Tuesday they got back to me asking what I wanted to cancel. I said the Rey staff and Luke belt.
Today it was cancelled I got a gift card for the total, ordered the Mando helmet and paid an extra $30 to get the helmet shipped.
They move pretty fast when they get an easy out.
Now we'll see how long it takes to get here.

I understand that there has been delay after delay and it is frustrating, but expecting very many items to be shipped at this time isn't realistic. Like it or not, COVID19 is causing real disruptions to many things. I'm not convinced we would have seen very many of the Q1 products without the disruptions, but that doesn't mean there aren't legitimate issues this time.

The below video is from a hobby store. Nothing to do with prop replicas. He mentions a reduction in products coming from China. Is that just an excuse too? He has a newer video saying the store will be closed for now.

More realistic communication from Anovos would certainly be appreciated, but it is probably very hard to say much more than things are delayed again. It is very difficult to know when things will get back to normal so making estimates is difficult.

Hopefully the next estimate will have a more realistic batch of products in each quarter.

They likely corrected the issue during production, and its early helmets that have the ear issues. New ones seem fine

Hello ggriffaw,

Please no offense :) but I think you missed my point a bit.

Of course COVID19 is causing disruptions. This is a worldwide crisis, no one can deny that and certainly not me.
I am personally working for a company which, like most, is directly hit by the consequences of all this (we sadly lost a colleague recently).
But, since the beginning of it and even before, we communicated intensely.

As for ANOVOS, not a word (or strangely and apparently, only for some customers).
I mean, everyday we all get tons of emails from companies all around the world explaining precisely what is going on for their business.
Meanwhile, ANOVOS, which postpones for years the release of approx 60 SW products, is still not able to give us a proper update at the end of a Quarter. Just, "COVID19 is causing issues". Yes. OK. But please, give us FACTS about those items. Where are we at right now ?
Even worse, while the Quarter has ended without an update on all these stuff, ANOVOS continue to communicate for various sales and promotions.
It is indecent.

And of course we do not want anyone to take risks right now, that is not the point, we just want precise updates for what we paid for years ago.

Hello,
Do you have any pictures of these new ones ? Thanks

Is anyone 100% certain that they ACTUALLY have a real production facility in Texas? That Anavos Production LLC in Texas isn't just a small company registration for tax related purposes? They ship stuff in from China, have their one guy glue on a piece, and it's now a produced in USA product. I mean, lots of stuff is physically manufactured in China, brought into north America in pieces to be assembled, just so they can legally slap on a Made in USA / Canada claim.
