ANOVOS issues (ANOVOS ONLY discussion)

Are you sure it was an Anovos Death trooper? I don't think they have announced any R1 items yet. Could it have been the Shadowtrooper?

Gee, its great that the Han Solo belt is "in stock and ready to ship". Wonder when I'll get the one I ordered months ago?

The Han Solo Bespin Belt is 15% off today and I was thinking about buying it (hopefully it will help pay for whatever they need to pay for for me to get the rest of my stuff) but the sizing is so insane I can't figure out what to order (actually I would only order the Large since it was the only one actually shipping). Depending on my weight I wear a 34" or 36" pant waist size. I'm more or less average I guess. There are plenty of people bigger or smaller than me. But based on the belt sizes they offer I have NO CLUE what to order. Measuring myself based on where ANOVOS says I should measure does not help. My ANOVOS waist : 34 1/2" My ANOVOS hips. 41". So based on the way they measure stuff my waist is much smaller than their smallest size and my hips are much larger than their largest size.... No clue what to order. What am I not seeing or doing right?

Waist Hip
Small36"-38"31"
Medium40"-42"32"
Large44"-46"33"
Extra Large48"-50"34"
2X-Large52"-54"35"

OK I second this question. The Anovos sizing chart makes no sense. If you are a male in relatively good shape I would think that your hips would be wider than your waist. If this is correct it would seem that the sizes are inverted on the chart? I wear between a size 32 and 34 jean, which would mean that I'm an EXTRA SMALL? Huh?? Help!

Here's my Anovos (left) next to my 1997 Don Post Classic Action. The '97 isn't horrible, actually, but I'm glad I did the upgrade.

I was also contemplating the Hasbro, but don't think I really want one now. The only change I'll make is to get bubble lenses for the Anovos... some day.

Disappointing that Anovos seems to be announcing even more products while still not delivering on those already ordered. Are they trying to remake all the dumb mistakes EFX has already made?

Seems like the industry is actually going backwards.

Cheers

Why would products being manufactured in China or being processed through a distribution center prevent a company from designing new products? I would think different people are involved.

That chart actually makes no sense. The gun belt - i can see having some relation to a person's hips. WTH does a normal belt have to do with one's hips? That belt, by design, is worn at the waist alone.

i 3rd the question, i am also a size 34 pants. I'm lost at this chart...

Agreed but are we then saying that a size Small is really a 36" to 38" waist? Hard to believe the smallest size offered would be larger than an average waist. When I'm not being lazy I'm a 32" waist and currently out of shape I'm a size 34" waist. I preordered a medium sized gun belt and have been unsure of that decision. I'd love to get clarity so I can order other things in the future with confidence. I know my measurements. I see their chart. It makes no sense.

Make sure you actually measure yourself. And when i say measure yourself, have someone else do it. If you try yourself, you usually get inaccuracies. That's sewing 101.

The thing to understand is this. The size waist you wear in a pair of jeans or other pants is not your actual measurements. Manufactures have been altering their labels for years to fit the sooth the ego of their customers. If you had two brand of jeans you were trying on and one was a size 32 and the other a size 34, and both fit, which would you buy. Studies say you buy the 32. And while we stereotype females with caring about that sort of thing more than males, males do care.

Funny thing about the military uniforms (at least the Navy), the sizes run true to measurements. Because the military does not care about your ego. I think when I wore a size 29 waist in Levis, I wore a size 33 in uniform pants.

So in summary, get yourself measured.

Also remember that your real waist on your body is a lot higher than where your pant waist is located. Your waist is right about at your belly button. Your pant waist is more like about 2 inches above the widest part of your hip.

36-38 is circumference. If you wear a size 32 pants, it's not 32" around your waist. I wear a size 34 in pants, but it's 41/42" when you put a tape around my waist. That's the number they're after.

That said, i have NO CLUE where they get the hip numbers. Hips are always wider, male and female. But no way those numbers are simlply width.

I've seen worse :) I wear an XL shirt because i l like it on the loose side. I bought three shirts. NONE wound up being XL. 2 wound up being L and one XXL - all three fit the same AND they were the same maker. It had my head messed up, so i went and check the size on other makers and i was indeed, still XL :)

I'd say the last 10 years or so, sizes have gotten considerably worse. Only thing i ever had to worry about in that regard the last 25ish years was shoes - Nike seems to use a different size chart than everyone else.

I get all that. I used to work in the fashion business and know my true measurements really well and it is true that SOME clothing companies try to make you feel better about yourself by making the printed sizing smaller than your actual size. But the ANOVOS sizes are so far off that does not apply here.

ANOVOS sizing chart tells the men to measure their waists where they wear their pants.

The SMALLEST actual waist size that ANOVOS offers is 36"-38" which is much larger than the average guy. When I was 21 my actual measured waist size was 32" - I wore a 32" or 34" waist x 34" length) pant by most companies by the time I was 30 it was 33 waist (I then wore a 34" printed waist". That entire time I was in athletic shape and at 6' 2" 180 lbs I was not exactly a small person. After 30 I let myself go and I put on 40 pounds and my measured waist got up to almost 38" and I had to wear a very tight fitting 36" (for a short time until I started to lose weight) I'm 34 1 1/2" now.

Based on Anovos' size chart, if I had a 38" waist (measured size) and weighed 220 lbs, I would have to buy their smallest size. That makes no sense.

This is actually the third Item I have not bought an item because of their really strange sizing. I'm pretty sure whoever put the sizing down for the belts had no idea what they were doing and even though other people have brought it to their attention they have never fixed it. I'm guessing it's something like the "waist" sizes are actually the overall length of the belts, and the "hip" size is what your waist size should be (although it seems the range is too narrow), that

or "36-38" is supposed to be "26-28" and they are all misprinted by 10"...

I have no idea what they meant. I just know I can't order one of these belts because I don't know which one would fit me. I kinda of thought it would help them get other things shipped. I'm starting to see why these items are taking 2 1/2 years to get to people.

Note: I have a belt I have worn since I was 21. I wore it when my true waist was 32" and I wore it on the last hole when my true waist was 38". The overall length of the belt is 45". The large HS belt size "waist" in large is 44"-46". That is their middle size. That would make sense if they mean not "waist" but "overall length" - but then... why would it be a range and not an actual size.

Who knows.. .maybe they just are making belts for people who only have a 36" waist and larger.

I think you're missing the point. There seems to be concern from a lot of people who have pre-ordered from Anovos over the last couple of years - and are still waiting, while more and more new items are being offered. EFX has been doing the same thing.

There's an argument both companies should be making good on existing orders first. So you dont see that as an issue?

Cheers

They are selling Han Solo belts and shadow trooper helmets at NYCC whilst people are still waiting on the Pre orders for them

My Han Solo belt and droid caller have been delivered to my brother in the US and should be on the way to me in Hong Kong as I write. I ordered a small.
