Yes!! I know they'll make it happen! This time it's different!

You’d be surprised how often the obvious is overlooked, haha. I saw someone in one of the Mando groups complaining because he thought it was actually glitter in the metal paint! Can’t blame them though, not many folks have first hand experience with these paints.

Calling is your best bet if possible. I believe Sam recently had a surgery for something so perhaps he is a little behind. Last I talked to him, he mentioned the site was being worked on to fix the “shipping glitch.”

Have you ever heard of or tried Pro Chrome from Mouldlife? They may be able to ship to you, and I’ve heard it is somewhat comparable to Alumaluster.
Will give them a call when I get the chance. Thanks for the inside info!

I have had discussions with Mouldlife, since they used to be the Alumaluster distributor over on this side and they did mention the Pro Chrome... I've just not heard nor seen any end-user results, so I haven't tried it. (The Alclad and Molotow work well once you know how to use them... I just hear and see so much talk about Aluma that I'm super curious to try it!)

I can't see much risk in not getting the Mandalorian helmet within a few weeks of paying for it. Plenty of people have already received theirs in that kind of timeframe.

Other items from Anovos are a very different story though.

Hopefully other products will be manufactured at the same facility as the Mandalorian helmet eventually. It will probably be a while if they have a long list for the Mandalorian helmets.

I think Anovos are pretty aware they have their feet to the fire when it comes to delivering. I get the sense that the Mando helmets and other things they've actually been delivering lately are their lifeline to getting back on track. I wouldn't want to mess that up if I were in their shoes!

On that note... Picard jackets have apparently completed production and they "confirmed" they will start shipping during the 1st quarter. So, maybe the same place that did the Solo jackets have followed through on those as well. It's the next thing on my list, followed by the Star Lord jacket.

I should also mention that they have been pretty good lately about answering customer service on things... at least for me. Their rep just followed up on a store credit request I sent in for the Disco uniform. Not sure if I'll use the credit for a Mando bucket or for some other in-stock items.

Still no cause for optimism here. Not a single word or response or anything on stupid Kylo costume from stupid company with 4 years of my stupid money.

And let it be known that this former fan will never purchase any such item from any company of its kind ever again: Icons, Master Replicas, EFX, Anovos - all of these turned to disasters and every attempt to succeed them always will.

Just because you can sand and paint plastic and enjoy Star Wars does not mean you are talented. It means shut up, watch tv, become an alcoholic, and spare us.

Mando helmet=slice of tomato

I think it's more about wanting to make a living bringing awesome things you love to the world over any notion of "talent". I would rather say "just because you can sand and paint doesn't mean you have the chops to run a business" (one of several reasons why I don't, haha), but I think in the case of props and models, success is largely dictated by the current state of fandom. Master Replicas had a good run- it was managed by people who had been around the block once or twice at the same time "prop fandom" was at a peak with the Prequel films coming out. Once they were done, so was MR, more or less. NONE of the latest genre shows (The Mandalorian excluded) have generated any real interest in props, costumes or models of the "high end" variety. People still want screen accurate Darth Vader suits, E11s and TOS communicators, but I doubt as many will care about Kylo Ren or Michael Burnham in five years, let alone 20!

For Anovos, I think they're going to just keep slowly ticking off one box at a time until they are caught up. Might take two years, might take five. Who knows. They seem to be doing what they can with the means that are available. Slow progress is better than none, or the whole thing collapsing. I thought I'd be "over" the Solo TFA once it arrived, but I'm actually pretty fond of it... have worn it many times. And with nuTrek being so depressing, I'll be glad to receive the Picard when it gets done.

I think you guys are both right. As a 3D artist,I can make just about anything we see in these shows and movies. I don’t do That and try to sell them for many reasons, the biggest of which is other people’s money. I am impatient and a perfectionist in certain ways. I don’t want to wai for myself to finish something let alone others waiting for something they paid for. I freelanced for a while and I hated it. Being your own boss also means being your own every position needed for said busines. I think people don’t think that through enough when starting a biz like this.
As fo the market and what people want I think Joatrash is right with the addition that 3D printing and places like thingyverse are making it very easy to get these doodads. As soon as I get a form printer I’m going to make me a Discovery phaser. And a T-70 X-Wing. And accurate parts with fiber holes for Zvesda SD. And another day in the week. It’ll print those yes?

Joe, I agree with everything you said...mostly.

you take that back about Michael Burnham - or John Harrison for that matter

I would disagree that this is just a poorly run business. It is rare that folks know what it takes to completely finish what amounts to a polished work of art and feel that this dynamic is the largest in play.

Anyone of us here could learn everything about what it takes to make a shoe but we would still not have our first consistently good shoe finished for a couple years if ever.

There is no way around that. Ever.

This business model was maybe even fine.

But it’s like going to these conventions where people have been working on a single costume for a year but still find themselves on the hotel bed with a hot glue gun while the costume contest starts downstairs.

Like Joe and Dana they are at times not capable of understanding and accepting what it takes to do something well.

Yes that is harsh. And I stand by it.

At least the hot glue costumer might learn that some things cannot be solved by some new “angle” in manufacturing.

Remember when Anovos sent out a note that they decided to make metal bucks to mass produce stormtrooper armor because the stone wouldn’t last?!! I was shocked that this realization did not precede their efforts.

This is just another example of the little guy thinking that his passion qualifies him/ her. Whether it is Ray Stevens attempting comedy or Adolf Hitler trying to run a country it does not turn out well.

Addendum: Before some joker says, “Are you comparing Anovos to Hitler?!” it is obvious I am establishing a gammut.

Kind of Anovos related but I just asked Master Replicas if they’d be trying to get the Star award licence again and they said “nothing yet but we’re hopeful”

For someone who didn’t have the money and was too young to get their old SW stuff this would be epic. Anyone wise have any insights into this?

Well, since I had a bunch of money in my account after canceling the Disco uniform I figured what the hell... Mando bucket ordered. I was modeling my own, but with all the other stuff I'm doing... saving the time of modeling and printing at least ONE piece was appealing. Depending on how it looks in person... if the ears stick out too much and how the finish is, I might even strip it and repaint to more easily match my armor. Just the fact that the anovos bucket is nicely lined is almost worth the cost, because I don't really enjoy doing it.

Joe, makes sense since you were already invested in disco to flip over to a product that is shipping. I was interested in disco, but with a month and a couple of days until end of Q1 for the items i am still waiting for, no more preorders for me.

FWIW, I just tried to order some paintball equipment and was told there are big backlogs of orders, because nothing is getting out of China right now due to Coronavirus. I doubt this is relevant to Anovos, since I doubt they actually have anything to ship anyway, but thought it was worth mentioning, since I know EFX are claiming this to be the case.

They are absolutely going to use this as an excuse to tack another quarter or two onto their current estimates.

C'mon guys, it took Leonardo DaVinci 10 years to paint the Mona Lisa for a person, so I'm sure you'll get your product someday...

Oh wait, she never received her painting.

So DaVinci created the business model. Now we know where it started. :p:lol::D(y)

Anovos will have to roll out more product to re-establish credibility...after all this time I may decide to sell whatever they ship, and get tickets to the Catalina wine mixer...
