I, like others in the UK, have been finding it extremely difficult to locate the Asics Dirt Dogs 3 shoes required for the ASM suit and short of paying over £100 the possibility of acquiring a pair slowly diminished.
So I decided to try another route. I managed to get a pair of the other colour variant of the Asics Dirt Dogs 3 which are black, silver and yellow and at present are widely available in the UK and very cheap too. I picked up a brand new pair for £15 inclusive of P&P.
After receiving them I immediately set about working out how to get the ASM look along with how I am going to strip them down. Since the shoes are exactly the same as their red/silver counterparts, the only problem I faced was the colouring. However I know there are alot of good fabric paints out there capable of doing the job. With this in mind I came up with the following:
1. Change the colour of the soles from yellow to red
2. Paint the balck fabric part of the shoes to silver
3. Where needed add the blue colour required to complete the shoe
I have begun with the first step and I have included pics below to how they look at the moment. I used a simple red sharpie pen to achieve this:
As you can agree a cheaper way of achieving the ASM look. Hope this helps anyone who needs it, especially those of us in the UK.
