While I find it sad that another great singer has passed I think some of these other celebrities are going a bit far. Al Sharpton wants a world wide moment of silence? For a drug addict? Really? She had a daughter that is now left behind because of her mothers drug addiction. But, yes, we all should have a moment of silence and praise her for what a great person she was. :confused

How about a moment of silence for those who truly deserve it, but never get it enough, like the men and women of our armed forces?

Sorry if this comes off harsh, but all the publicity that is going to be poured on her is undeserving because of the way she chose to live and end her life.

Sorry, but if your going to play with the Devil, one day, he gonna come a callin...

Agreed, you cant be a Crackhead and expect any different, pretty tragic, but there ya go, nuff said.
As for a minute of silence, my *, what a load of bollocks, its comments like that, from dreamers like Mr Sharpton that grinds my gears, she was a Crackhead, not a fairy princess *********.

I'm glad her critics are so smug in their own goodness and perfections that they can't even comprehend anything that might transpire in their own lives that could possibly reduce them to a level of something as unsavory as drug addiction, especially crack. Not being able to overcome your demons in this life does not mean you have chosen them as bedfellows.

She was a graceful and beautiful lady who had one of the most stunning voices ever heard. Her addiction certainly hurt her career and, in worsening, kept her from being able to give of her gifts as she once had, but it cannot diminish what she gave prior, cannot wipe away the beauty that was.

................I Will Always Love You..............RIP Whitney, and thank you for all the beauty you shared with the world.

I bet the autopsy will reveal she didnt even die from illicit drugs, but from a bad combo of prescription drugs, much like how Heath Ledger died.

Such sad news. To be gone at 48 and leave a child behind is just tragic. It's just a shame she could never get past whatever personal demons had hold of her.

She had talent and its a shame that she decided to take a path that wasted so much potential. I always feel bad when something like this happens due to that waste of opportunity and talent.

From hacking to celebrities wasting their talents to people that have the ability to create instead of destroying, I just hate to see anyone blow that away in a destructive manner. The world is a much better place if people realized how to maximize such capabilities for good causes. That's the real tragedy of something like this.

I always loved her music and voice thru the years on the radio ,and I hate someone with such Godgiving talent made mistakes that end there life ......beating someone up after they passed away ,I cannot do......dont believe for me that would be right for the legacy of music ,this beautiful voice left for all of us to listen to 4 ever, as well as many other musicians such as Lynard Skynard and Elvis and several others, but aint no one knocking them either, they did it all too ,but they left us with so much to enjoy and cherish, and music helps us to remember our pasts as well ,the song remembers when......

Need an outside opinion here, discussing Whitney's death with my wife tonight.

Whitney's Daughter, who is 18 years old, in the last 36 hours, has had to be picked up from her home not once, but twice because she is so distraught over her mothers death.

Apparently when she reaches the hospital they treat her with prozac, valium etc and send her home.

Now I totally feel for the woman, her mom passed.. yes its sad. But I told my wife I thought it was ridiculous to call 911 and be taken in for anxiety and get "meds" over this, twice.

Plenty of peoples mothers die every day and they grieve, without having to call 911 over it and be taken to a hospital. Are they not rich enough to have a limo take her to hospital? What if another person is dying from a heart attacke and needed that ambulance?? Lots of ways to look at this here.. anyyyyway....

My wife says she thinks im heartless and an A-hole bout that, she thinks the 911 emergency trips are justified.

    Thoughts?!?

She'll be missed, but seems to me that she spent the first half of her life really building herself. The second half was spent destroying it.

I've seen a lot of Facebook posts saying she is a hero. The people who serve to protect our country are heroes. Whitney Houston is not a hero. She was an amazing talent completely wasted and took her life for granted. Not even Kevin Costner could deal with that anymore.

Very well said. As the years have gone by, life has taught me to be a little less quick on the draw when it comes to judging certain decisions and situations that other people experience. Never in a million years would I justify, or condone some of these things, but I've certainly learned that despair over some of life's ills can lead you down paths you would have never thought you'd traverse.

That said, Ms. Houston's death is tragic, however, not completely unexpected. It really is a shame she didn't get the help she needed sooner.

It's a shame that she died. Her music wasn't really my kind of music, but * she was talented. The sad thing is that the media will talk and analyze and exploit this until God knows when to the point that she will become a parody of herself. People die of substance abuse everyday, but you never hear a word about it on the news unless they are a celebrity.

    Good call ;)

You wouldn´t be banned, but there have been threads in the past about celebrity deaths where people posted insensitive and tactless/tasteless material, and the question was always "why?". Just for a cheap laugh at other people´s cost? There are plenty of threads, a "condolence" or "*, we lost another (former) great artist" thread does not really need such posts.

We do appreciate people being considerate and not making posts that might be seen by others as disrespectful.

    Thanks,
    Michael
