Another one--Halo Reach SR

So a little over a year ago my daughter said to me "Dad, you make models, think you could make something for me?" With no clue what I was getting into, I said sure, thinking how much could it be. Well, I proceeded to find out...:facepalm

So it did take me longer than I thought it would, and there was a couple of months where I did absolutely nothing for one reason or another, but I now have it pretty much ready to go. And wanting to show it off, I am putting it here for your review.:)

Have to say I am happy how it turned out, and so is my daughter. But I am really glad to be back to my other projects.

Some notes: materials are PVC pipe, foam, wood, fiberglass. Clip is spring loaded and holds 4 rounds, which are removable. Trigger does move. For some reason colors in the pictures are not quite right, it looks better in person, but ok for general viewing (colors are olive drab, dark grey, light grey). Total length is 54", sized to fit my daughter's height.

And one more note: before everyone comments the magazine slide is on the wrong side (per all the drawings and pictures that are out there), note that would be for a left-handed sniper rifle. Since my daughter is right-handed, I adjusted the rifle accordingly.

You might note some pics don't have the sling attachment points. I realized I had not done them as I was taking pictures for this post, so now they are there, but saw no reason to retake all the pics. I think I am going to replace the decals, as they seem to have faded, and it needs a final clear coat. Maybe I will let my daughter do that when it gets warm and it can be done outside where it needs to be done to avoid fumes in the house--and I truly am ready to be done with it...Pete M

I was wondering, what pic is the closest to the color in real life? Some pics (prob with flash) are very blue and others have a nice grey hue.

I really like it though! Blue or grey (but grey would be preferable imho). Awesome tht your daughter would want this!

By the way, paint the box from the inside as well dammit! :lol

Two things. The most important one first...Adopt me.

And also, what an excellent job you have done!!!!!

I would be EXTREMELY happy to be your child! x) I love how you scaled it down to fit her, too! It looks awesome. good job

Thanks for all the comments. You're right, the box needs to be painted on the inside, if I still have it when the weather breaks (my daughter may take it home before then), I will go ahead and do so. I built the box so my daughter would have an easy way to transport it without worrying about dinging it up. What is not shown is there is a set of removable wheels that hold on to the bottom with velcro, and there is a handle (like a luggage trunk handle) on the other end so it can be rolled like a carry-on.

It is grey, not blue, the picture that shows the colors the best is the close-up of the round in the chamber. The close shots of it on the box are pretty close as far as the color is concerned too.

Having had the opportunity to work on other stuff for a bit, I am more or less ready to do final touch up and put on the clear coat--just a matter of waiting until I can go outside to do so. Pete M

Wow! That is some quality work. I haw only ever seen two other reach sniper builds with that level of attention to detail, very well done!

Very cool!!!!!!

I love it man, it's awesome! Scaled down, and amazingly accurate.

Never thought I'd be jealous of a little girl, but now I am :lol

Well, not so little. She's 32 years old and of course full grown, and very much into LARP, Halo, GOW, Borderlands, etc. I am actually kind of surprised at her level of interest at this point, but then again, it's the video generation...Pete M
