Another Iron Man Mk6 full suit work in progress

Yeah i've been agonising over the boots too. At the moment i've half glued one of the boots in card. My initial idea was to have three separate sections, toe, main part of boot and the heel and have the main part built around a pair of red trainers I have. Now that i've glued some of the parts together though I can see that it's actually going to be a lot trickier than that, as you mentioned getting the heel and the toe to be strong enough to put weight on. I think your idea might actually be the best way to do it. That way you get the comfort of a real shoe and you can still reinforce the heel on the pep to achieve the right look. Good work dude!

I must admit when I first started this I never properly thought through the logistics of how some of this would all work and now that i'm up to the filler stage it's all getting really tricky and progress seems to slow. I literally spent all today just applying more filler and sanding to the chest piece. Wish I was better at using filler! :unsure

Well, just do the best you can in the time left. You can always redo the paint job after Halloween :)

yeah I was thinking that. There's still a bit of time left to get a fair bit done. Don't think i'll have the mask mechanised in time though. How are you doing yours? I was thinking of having servos controlled by an Arduino chip but I have no experience to doing anything like that. Having said that I had no experience of resin and body filler before I started this, ha ha!

Ok not been on here for a litle while as been away for a few days on holiday which ate into my construction time pretty heavily. Regardless i've still got a fair bit done on the chest piece. I have been applying filler, sanding, applying filler etc etc. Finding this part of the build really tricky, I don't know if my skills in sanding are that great. It's so difficult to achieve a nice smooth finish. Anyway I got to the point where I felt happy enough to apply a layer of primer and then found a few pinholes and some of the sharp lines in the armour piece I haven't noticed weren't symetrical when I did the card work. Maybe i'm being over critical of my first build but i'll attach some pics and you guys can tell me what you think. I also got some LED lights ordered for the helmet and got the fingers for both hands done (fiddly as hell!!). Going to resin them tomorrow and paint them up hopefully. Ooo and lastly I got my arc reactor which is currently the coolest part of the costume!! Hopefully it will distract from my filler work 'ooo, look at the shiney shiney!'.

Heh, you think those fingers are fiddly? :) Nice work! Btw, you asked about the faceplate on the helmet. I'm just going to use magnets, no motorization.
