Hi al,
over the years I see many fantastic fan made props here.So the time was comming to build my first own prop.As a Rebel Pilot fan one of my favorite helmets is the Y-Wing Pilot helmet.First I had scratchbuild a model and made a fiberglas positiv helmet from it. If the helmet was complete I painted and detailing it.Some of the details comes from RA and the Mictip is scrachbuild from pictures of an original. The highlight is the military connector. Its the same than on the original and long time of research I found one on ebay.
For showing the helmet I used a Visor of one of my old Hiimpact X-Wing helmets.A correct visor is in works. The helmet is not perfect but I am very happy with it.

Very nice helmet. The shape of the sculpt looks more accurate than the RA and it's a great paint-up. The RFB sticker came out nice. :)

Is the Roman alphabet script on the chin consistent with the original?

Yes, the sticker used on the helmet in ROTJ was for Radio Free Bolinas, a now defunct pirate radio station that used to broadcast from the offices of the Public utility Distrinct on the Bolinas Mesa, Marin County, California, not far from the ROTJ prop shop. Here's the original helmet that was on display at Celebration II:

Very interesting backstory. :cool And the original is proof that ywingfighter has done his homework well also. :thumbsup

I can't get over the weathering details on that! It's just crazy! :eek

Exactly, the weathering just looks...well, like it's been used in many battles! A fine piece you have to display there, you must be proud!! Many thanks for sharing your talents with us!

howlrunner, thanks for the picture. do you by chance have any other views of the helmet? thanks.

Many thanks for the complements. And many thanks to Howlrunner for his tip to paint the Bolinas decal!

here are some shots of the original helmet that I had on my files.
