Another Bandai Perfect Grade Millennium Falcon - Standard Edition - WIP + Complete

Here's another one. It has been great following all the other builds of this kit.

I got this nearly 2 years ago and it has been a long slow process to get it done. Due to the lockdown I have finally had the extra time and have got to a point where I am done tinkering. I am sure there are some more bits I could do here and there but I am calling it done.

I used mostly Tamiya paints and Tamiya weathering kits.

My base colour was made with 9 parts flat white and 1 part deck tan, which I was more than happy with. Althought Tamiya white can be a pain to spray.
Lots of masking and a few mistakes along the way. 1 broken pipe which I was able to repair and 1 small lost part which was annoying but no drama.

My lighting was home built and as simple as possible. I dont really know electronics so it is nothing fancy. I will post more pics of the lights when I can.

There was a lot or consulting with reference pics of to make sure I wasn't overdoing it. I did very little in regards to wash's and I did not do any pre-shading. After looking at the reference pics I decided that there was very little in regards to wash's and such.

I am in the same boat, I pre-ordered this and have been sitting on it for several years. I have built a bunch of smaller models including some of the 1/144 Bandai Falcon's.

I really like the way yours turned out. I too had thought about pre-shading and it seems to have turned out pretty good on my smaller ones, but for this build, I am using the spray can Insignia white from Tamiya so it would most likely just cover up any pre-shading I did.

I may have a few questions, but first, how did you do the dark streaks, I really like the way that turned out.

Also, nice cockpit work!

Thanks, the dark streaks were the one thing that took ages to decide on how to do. In the end I used 'Mungyo' branded soft pastel and scratched of some of the black colour into a container with a knife. Then I loaded up the tip of a pointy queue tip with some of the ground black and used a piece of business card as a ruler to make the line straight. I did not trust myself to do it freehand or with an airbrush. I started on the bottom first so that it would be easy to fix if I made a mistake. Some of the lines I enhanced slightly with a dark sharp pencil. While the lines are not quite as smooth as the studio model I think it looks pretty good.

Very nice job. Every time I see such a nice Falco I have to remind myself I promised that my Deago Falcon would be my last! Looks great,be proud!
