Animatronic JOCASTA head

Hello all
so i was always intrigued by Jocasta, the android created by ultron, and the storylines of this character

so i am making jocastas head as it was during the events of invincible Ironman, #18,#19 #20.
this is when tony stark works for sunset bain at baintronics, and unknowingly works on the AI of jocasta, from her salvaged head
which leads on from the terminus factor events

so im making an animatronic head, with movable eyes
to start, i found a pretty good animatronic base head on thingiverse, but was a bit to small i thought, so ive scaled it up to make
it more the size of a human head, but still 3d printable on my ender 3
the problem then was the servo mounts were off for the eye movements, so i resized them for the servos i am using

i also found a while back a low poly model of jocasta, not great, but the headpiece was pretty good, so i scaled it up a lot,
and applied a few smooth modifiers and changed it more to my liking,

Update

loads of work has been done,

im pretty much done with how Jocasta is going to look,

initially i was going for a simple stand just to hold the head,
instead im using a custom Inmoov servo controlled stand found on the thingiverse, which ive spent time modifying,
i also needed something to support the head rotate servo, so im using the bottom half of a ball bearing supported pan/tilt base
to do the head rotate

there will be total 6 servo control functions
1 for eyes up/down
1 for eyes left/right
1 for head rotate left/right
1 for head up/down
2 for head tilt side/side

i did get a few more parts off the printer,
then there has been an annoying issue, my tf card decided to stop working, so im sorting that out

im also waiting on my Arduino, servos and other parts to arrive
there will also be Leds in the eyes and some audio function to come

thanks for looking

This is an actually cool animatronic. Do you plan on making this open source? Because this also has applications for being a Deadpool severed head animatronic as a cool thing to make.

Update:

jocastas eyes are done,

i have also found another tf card so my printer is back up and running,

hi, thanks for checking out my project,

unfortunately not,

but i can point you in the direction of what i used for development/research,

& the inmoov project

hope this helps,

good luck with your deadpool project,

Update

head is loosely together, still some adjustments to be made
IMG_7680.jpg

IMG_7681.jpg

heres my components so far

Arduino Uno
Servo Six
x2 hxt900 servos
x4 MG996R servos
Jumper leads
Breadboard for prototyping
5mm red leds
IMG_7685.jpg

i still need to sort out the power system
and some other components

ive got a new tf card, so i can print again
also acquired more filament
3kg of grey

started printing Jocastas face
around 10hr print time
IMG_7688.jpg

have done some more printing,

jocasta now has a face,
IMG_7689.jpg

IMG_7690.jpg

IMG_7691.jpg

print time around 10hr each

i had to raise the forehead significantly so modifications can be made,
im prob gonna leave this section for a while, until i have everything printed,

thanks for looking

Update

so the main eye support bracket needed more modification, the servo tray on the back was too low, and has been printed again,

IMG_7807.jpg

while more parts are being printed, i decided to make a start fitting the face.
lots of filing and sanding and trial fitment
almost fitting good, still needs the gaps closed in more before they can be joined together

I'll have more to show soon, as more parts are coming off the printer,

thanks for looking

Update

more progress being made,

the back of jocastas head printed, but not fitted yet

IMG_7757.jpg

made a start on the stand,
getting the base printed has been the most troublesome thing by far
first attempt the memory card failed,:(
second attempt resulted in a blockage,:(
third time was the charm,(y)
IMG_7865.jpg

more pieces printed
IMG_7871.jpg

at the moment im filing, sanding and trial fitting, while waiting for more parts to come off the printer,

IMG_7873.jpg

thanks for looking,

so there was no Jocasta building during the xmas holidays, she just sat on the bench, but now im back on it,
ive been working on the stand structure

here ive been cleaning up and beveling the screw holes and getting the various pieces fitting
IMG_7967.jpg

IMG_7968.jpg

this is the Inmoov quarter scale servo holster, it will control the head up/down movement
IMG_7969.jpg

servo converter is on top, so i can use a standard sized servo
IMG_7971.jpg

front srcews now flush fitted
IMG_7974.jpg

spent some time getting the servo tray moving nice
IMG_7976.jpg

printed part of the spine support
IMG_7978.jpg

spine support fitting good
IMG_7980.jpg

more to come

thanks for looking,
and a Happy new year to everyone

Update,

i have the flu, :( but still working away
here ive been bevelling the back panel, and filing the two upper spine support holes
IMG_7981.jpg

i also had to modify and reprint the servo holster, as the pins were not same on either side and it really bothered me,
not a big problem to fix, and i could of left it, but i like symmetry, :)

screws are flush fitted, and more filing/sanding to fit
IMG_7987.jpg

then getting the base panel fitted
IMG_7988.jpg

more beveling for the screws
IMG_7991.jpg

printed the other spine support piece
IMG_7992.jpg

more filing to fit
IMG_7995.jpg

IMG_7998.jpg

this is how it looks, and theres more parts coming off the printer
IMG_7997.jpg

this is what jocasta looks like at the moment

thanks for looking

more parts
these are the rear servo mounts for the neck tilt
IMG_7719.jpg

this is the main spine
IMG_7730.jpg

the part on the left glues into the top of the spine for the head rotate, i wont be gluing this just yet
IMG_7770.jpg

the bottom of the head mount and what the top of the pistons connect to
IMG_7772.jpg

IMG_7771.jpg

this is the spine upside down, just testing to make sure the parts fit together ok
IMG_7773.jpg

and here ive been sanding to make the spine fit, it fits ok but still needs some more work
IMG_7775.jpg

thanks for looking
