Animatronic Blade gaunts

Hi everyone, Jarred (UMF) here. I've decided I'm going to try and make my own animatronic blade system. I intend to incorporate it into a set of NUCKING FUTS' P1 blade gaunts (I believe they are DB gaunts aren't they?). Anywho, I'm not asking anyone to just tell me how to do it, I'm just looking for suggestions and advice. It's probably going to be motorized, no rubberbands or springs, with that handheld switch that would control the extend/retract action. Never done this before so I know I'll be needing help. For now, where to begin as far as parts go? Help appreciated!

I myself is taking on this challenge. I got a working motor with battery set up (thanks to my uncle) already now I am trying to improve it with a belt system that will extend the blade all the way and back and also make it as small as possible. I will be posting up the full plans once its working. The only problem is the amount of batteries needed to power the blades since they are so heavy. I actually made some foamed resin blades that are lighter. Anyway its a long work in progress....
