ANiGRAND is out of SciFi business

Hi,

I found some statement in a differnet forum about ANiGRAND!
The website is also down!

Okay, everyone, here's the scoop.

This morning, Anigrand got hit with a C&D from LucasFilm over its unlicensed SW products.

Apparently LF hired a local law firm to represent its interests in Hong Kong. Anigrand has no interest in getting into an intercontinental battle with Mr. Lucas, so has taken down all its SW products.

That FineMolds just announced its own 1:144 Falcon kit I suspect is no coincidence in the timing of this.

In any case, if you have any questions, comments or requests, please write Arnold Chiu directly at email@anigrand.com. He will be more than happy to answer to respond to your inquiries.

Damn I knew this would happen and kept meaning to order some kits!
Anyone have any of their 1/144 scale kits they want to sell??

This is so frustrating...

I ordered an Imperial Star Destroyer on January 14. According to the customs label number provided by Anigrand, the kit was posted on 1/19 and has been held up in customs (presumably in Los Angeles) ever since.

According to the USPS the ONLY way to locate the model is for Anigrand to launch an errant package investigation on their end (something to do with US Customs security issues; they won't provide me with any information).

Thus far I've sent four requests to Anigrand for help, but I've heard nothing in return. Frankly I'm at a bit of a loss as where to turn next. This is the first time I've ever encountered an issue with customs, and aside from pestering/ begging Anigrand to help with the aforementioned "investigation" there doesn't seem to be anything else I can do.

Grrrrrr.

US Customs gets a bit weird.

I bought a Pegaso figure kit from someone in Australia whom I had bought from before without problems.

Customs held it for a few weeks, opened it for inspection and removed the hands of the figure, all the other tiny parts where still there.

I've also seen boxes with large holes cut in them than re-taped with Home Land Security inspection tape.

They seem to be getting out of hand on this sort of thing.

I would be willing to bet that the Anigrand kits pop up again in mainland china under a different name in the near future.

I am betting so as well. unless the law firm insists on all the molds being turned over so lucas can have them to be sure they are not sold to another company that does not care.

on the customs issue i am betting time will cause that package to show up. it is just a matter of time so they can get around to all the packages they are to inspect and got before yours so once they know it is not something they need to worry about then it will be released to you. Only thing is to hope nothing was damaged during the inspection.

don't know if anyone remembers but for a long while you could not order a hard drive because the intensive scanning equipment they used would basically destroy the drive.
glad they sorted that shipping issue.

I can understand the delay I mean when something comes through that has Star Destroyer on it , you know there going to go over it real good.

Not necessarily. In November I ordered a resin figure kit from a vendor in Chile; online tracking showed it arrived in Miami, Florida the first week of December, but that was as far as it got until the vendor received it in mid January with no explanation whatsoever as to why it was returned to him. When he shipped it the second time I received it within two weeks. :confused

Apparently Customs can do whatever they want whenever they want without having to answer to us lowly civilians.
