Ahhhh.... you never forget your first Graflex. I think many of us started with a Graflex as our first prop (including me).

Hello,

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

It wasn't my first, but certainly one of the first five...and mine didn't look nearly as good as yours.
Well done.

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

My first real star wars prop as well. Feels good to hold something so close to the screen used original right?

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

Now get to rebelscum and get a nice bubble strip and to Gino for some great grips!

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

Thanks a lot for your comments.
Is Gino the name of the guy,or the name of the shop,it's not easy to know about the grips, and especially what to choose.
For the bubble lens I have find this:

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

I would know what could be a accurate lightsaber core, especially crystal chamber.
I have seen several drawings or images, especially the anakin cutaway,I would use this picture for the inside of saber(diatum cell and crystal chamber)
Do you think it's a good idea?

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

Hi Patrice,

Slothfurnace made a nice inner core with detachable blade too. Check it out!

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

Yep i think my first SW prop was a trusty old 'flex :)

I see you have the alternate red button version too, ive had a couple of those in my collection at some point.

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

Indeed this is the correct red button you should be looking for . . .
on another graflex 3 or even 2 Cell Flashgun or perhaps somewhere
loose in the Junkyard :

Keep us posted with updates of your work in progress.

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

I have prepared 58 leds for the blade, and 2 for the crystal chamber.
Ok,crystal and leds are not for this saber, but I will do same for my Luke, and for the OB1 too...
Just for the Luke I will use two quartz crystals instead of aquamarine.

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

Nice. Have always wanted to build one of these myself. Alas, I am lazy and will just buy the FX removable blade version when it comes out.

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

Hi There,I just removed the bubble strip from calculator.
I have a question, there is a trick to install it on the clamp?

Re: ANH Luke Lightsaber.

There are a couple of tricks to getting a tight fit.
I just cut a thin rubber band into two strips.....squeezed them into the slots edges, then fitted the bubble strip. When you lock it closed it makes a nice tight, cushioned fit!

But the graflex project is off for the moment,I sold it to a friend.
I kept the clamp and bubble, for my obi wan saber.

here is grenade section:

Photo is 2 weeks ago, other photo, some messages later is 3 weeks ago

It looked quite new, even the grenade has some small rust.
It's weathering for the moment,I will take a photo in a couple of weeks to show new patina.

Is the grenade a russ one? And also, have you polished the bubble strip after cutting and sanding?
